Before we get to the zones, one note on how to use this: bullpen fatigue is a totals-and-live-betting tool first. A tired pen doesn’t change who’s favored on the moneyline as much as it inflates the odds of late runs — which is why the “Red Zone” pens below are over-the-total and live-over signals, and the “Green Zone” pens are the ones you can trust to hold a lead into the ninth.
Red Zone — the most taxed pens on the board

And the matchup is a gift for over bettors: Arizona at 73 and the Athletics at 72 are the second- and third-most fatigued pens on the entire board, facing each other in the desert.

Read: Kansas City and Texas are the next tier of tired, and both pair their workload with run rates north of 2.0 per game. Neither is a first-pitch play, but if either starter exits early tonight, the bullpen math tilts hard toward the over. These are live-betting triggers.
Green Zone — the freshest pens you can trust late
New York Mets (Fatigue 31 — freshest in baseball)
Play: Trust the Mets to close in New York Mets @ Milwaukee Brewers (7:40 pm ET) Grade: A (Rested and Reliable) Key Edges:

Read: If you’re laying chalk and need the pen to hold a lead, the Mets are the safest group on the board — the freshest fatigue score in the pack and zero back-to-back usage. This is the flip side of a fade: New York’s relief corps is rested, sharp, and fully available behind whoever starts.
Chicago Cubs (Fatigue 35) & Philadelphia Phillies (Fatigue 38)
Play: Lean the rested side — Tigers @ Cubs (8:05 pm ET), Dodgers @ Phillies (7:00 pm ET) Grade: A- (Deep and Fresh) Key Edges:
- Chicago (35) and Philadelphia (38) are the second- and third-freshest pens in the pack
- Both used zero relievers on back-to-back days
- Philadelphia’s pen owns a strong 25.3% strikeout rate; the Cubs sit at 21.3%
- Phillies closer Jhoan Duran (62 BF, 38.7 K%) did pitch yesterday — note the availability flag
Read: The Cubs and Phillies both roll into Monday with rested, deep pens and no back-to-back arms to worry about. One caveat on Philadelphia: Jhoan Duran, their best late-inning weapon, threw yesterday, so if this game is tight in the ninth the Phillies may go to a secondary option. Chicago has no such flag — the full Cubs pen is available behind their starter.
Reliever Watch — individual arms that move a game
The stingiest reliever in the whole pack remains Yankees closer David Bednar — 60 batters faced, zero runs allowed, a 30.0% strikeout rate — but note he pitched yesterday, so his availability in Pittsburgh Pirates @ New York Yankees (7:05 pm ET) is a live question. Same flag on Dodgers lefty Alex Vesia (61 BF, one run, 34.4 K%), who also threw yesterday.
On the fully-rested side: Boston’s Garrett Whitlock (53 BF, one run, 24.5 K%) did not pitch yesterday and anchors a Red Sox pen for Baltimore Orioles @ Boston Red Sox (7:10 pm ET). Houston’s Josh Hader (63 BF, two runs, a pack-elite 44.4% strikeout rate) is rested for Miami Marlins @ Houston Astros (8:10 pm ET). And Arizona’s Bryan Garcia (51 BF, one run, 33.3 K%) is available — though as noted, the D-backs pen behind him is the second-most fatigued on the board, so the leverage arm is fresh but the bridge to him is not.
