The team did a good job of improving both the offensive and defensive lines. This series has been in favor of the Browns with Cleveland winning five of their past six meetings. Browns have been able to exploit the Bengals defense with their run game and Nick Chubb has averaged five yards per carry or greater in the past five seasons which is a remarkable feat. 49ers at Steelers—George Kittle is listed as questionable for San Francisco. On defense a corner and two safeties are listed as questionable plus a linebacker as well. Minnesota won thirteen games last year despite the 31st ranked total defense by allowing 389 yards per game. Opponents passed for 266 yards a game against Minnesota. They looked bad against the good teams in the Eagles, Cowboys, and their playoff loss to the Giants. Baker Mayfield will start at quarterback. His size impacts his ability to throw downfield and his numbers have fallen every season. He lands on the Buccaneers which were the worst rushing team in the NFL in 2022. The Vikings were the sixth best passing team in the NFL which was able to overcome their shortcomings on defense. Kyle Trask is the quarterback in waiting for Tampa Bay. Kirk Cousins home numbers too good with a 67.4% completion rate in 2022 and 18 touchdowns to 4 picks. Mayfield on the road last year completed only 54.5% with 6.2 yards per attempt. Panthers at Falcons—Carolina wide receiver’s Adam Thielen and D.J. Clark are questionable. Atlanta healthy on offense with a corner listed as questionable. The Falcons had the 27th ranked defense last year and were 24th offensively. Their starters looked shaky against the Bengals second string in a preseason game. Panthers covered both meetings last year and have Bryce Young at quarterback. He did look good in the final preseason game. Falcons quarterback Desmond Ridder played in the final four regular season games and averaged 6.2 yards per attempt. Ridder low downfield numbers the concern here to lay over a field goal in a divisional game. Play Carolina +3.5.
Houston Texans vs. Baltimore Ravens NFL Betting Pick Prediction 9/10/2023
Texans at Ravens—Houston offensive starters healthy with a linebacker and safety on defense questionable. Receiver Odell Beckham Jr and tight end Mark Andrews are questionable for the Ravens. On defense a corner is questionable. Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans will start his rookie quarterback CJ Stroud. The offensive line is improved for Houston but still lacks quality playmakers. The coaching staff has a 49er former assistants. There is better continuity with the Ravens coaching staff and personnel. Baltimore was the second-best rushing team in the NFL last year with 5.2 yards per rush and 160 yards a game. The cloud over the quarterback position has cleared with Lamar Jackson signed. Running back Dobbins is healthy. Jackson at home a 67.1% completion rate with 7 yards per pass attempt. Houston had the 30th ranked defense in 2022. Tough spot for Stroud to play his first road game in Baltimore. Ravens are 47-15 to the spread when they outgain an opponent by 100-150 yards. Play Ravens -9.5.
Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Indianapolis Colts NFL Betting Pick Prediction 9/10/2023
Jaguars at Colts—Jacksonville starters healthy on offense and defense. Colts running back Zack Moss is questionable. Anthony Richardson will start at quarterback for Indianapolis. The look to improve on a 27th ranked offense in 2022. Jacksonville showed improvement last year including a playoff victory. The offense added another weapon for Trevor Lawrence by signing wide receiver Calvin Ridley. Jaguars look to improve on a 24th ranked defense. Anthony Richardson completed only 53.8% of his passes with the Florida Gators last year. Lawrence torched the Colts defense last year with 83.3% completions in their home game and 91% in the road game. The under has come in four of five. The Colts will struggle to score and will lean on their defense. Play Jacksonville and Indianapolis under 46.5.
Tennessee Titans vs. New Orleans Saints NFL Betting Pick Prediction 9/10/2023
Titans at Saints—Tennessee offense is healthy with a linebacker questionable. New Orleans is healthy on both sides of the field. Mike Vrabel has put good Titans defenses in his time as head coach. The is a defense that improved during the offseason. Another weapon in the backfield for the Titans is running back Tyjae Spears out of Tulane. Derek Carr is now the starting quarterback for New Orleans. Saints had the fifth best defense in 2022. The offense was turnover prone with Andy Dalton at quarterback. Ryan Tannehill averaged 7.8 yards per pass attempt and a 65.2% completion rate. Tannehill dealt with injuries last season, missing five games including the final three. Derek Carr struggled with a 60.8% completion rate last year despite having Davante Adams as his main target. He has thrown 24 interceptions in the past two seasons. Spears averaged 6.7 yards per rush in 2021 and 6.9 last season. He compliments Henry on the backfield for the Titans. Play Tennessee +3.
Arizona Cardinals vs. Washington Commanders NFL Betting Pick Prediction 9/10/2023
Cardinals at Commanders—Arizona receiver Marquise Brown and tight end Zach Ertz are questionable. Defense is healthy. Washington starters are healthy on offense with Chase Young questionable on defense. The keys to the offense have been turned over to Sam Howell. Good news for Washington is they finished third in the league in total defense. Kyler Murray’s knee condition is not healthy enough for him to start. Looks like Joshua Dobbs will start at quarterback. Howell played in Week 18 against Dallas completing 58% of his throws with 8.9 yards per attempt. Dobbs has been a career backup and has seen action in nine games since 2018. Dobbs saw significant action last year with Tennessee in two games completing 59% of his throws with 6 yards per pass attempt. He has not shown much downfield passing ability while in the NFL. Dobbs came to the Cardinals on August 24th in a trade from Cleveland. He missed the Cardinals spring, summer and preseason activities and was thrown into a start in Week 1. Plays should be predictable here to defend as Dobbs has not had enough time with the team. Cardinals will have trouble scoring here. Play Arizona and Washington under 38.

Jordan Love takes over as quarterback as Aaron Rodgers is now with the Jets. Love had a good preseason. Questions remain whether quarterback Justin Fields can improve the worse passing offense in the NFL as they averaged 130 yards per game. Packers defense was good last year holding opponents to 21.8 points a game. Green Bay has won eight straight against the Bears. Chicago was the 29th ranked defense last year. Chicago had many starters in the game against the Titans as Malik Willis led Tennessee to a touchdown. Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon as the running backs will help Love create balance on offense. Chicago 2-10 to the spread in divisional games. Play Green Bay +1.5.

Dolphins at Chargers—Miami starting left tackle is out. Their starters are healthy on defense. Chargers starters on both sides are healthy. Los Angeles struggled in 2022 running the football and stopping the run. They showed improvement in the preseason running the football. A major issue for the past few seasons for the Chargers is keeping impact receivers healthy. Miami will have to improve their pass defense, and this is a major test facing the Chargers. Dolphins were 25th rushing offense and improving this part of the offense can help keep Tua healthy. Herbert had a career-high 68.2% completion rate with 6.8 yards per attempt. Tua had a career high of 8.9 yards per pass attempt last year and healthy entering this season. The Stadium helps the road team because the Chargers have a small local fan base. Play Miami and Los Angeles over 51.

Starters on defense are healthy. The Patriots now have an experienced offensive coordinator as Bill O’Brien is in place. New England got a good year from their defense. Patriots were 26th in total offense. The defending NFC champion had to replace two coordinators. They were 2-6 to the spread on the road with wins to the Bears by 5, win by 1 at the Colts, failing to cover at the Texans and three point win at Detroit in week one and by three in Week 5 at Arizona. Look for improvement with Mac Jones with the Bill O’Brien hire. Play New England +4.

Rams at Seahawks—Wide receiver Cooper Kupp out for Los Angeles. Seattle has an offensive guard questionable with their strong safety out. Quarterback Geno Smith success was huge for Seattle. They were able to sign him at a discount price and spend money on the defense. This into a knock-on Geno as he played his way into the starting quarterback position. It’s just bad early history dropping his pay rate. The team also drafted well. The Rams were last in total offense last season. The Cupp injury is monster as they lack big name talent. Their offensive line digressed mightily last season as evidence in their Week 1 home loss to Buffalo. They gave up nearly three sacks per game. Smith in his first full season under Carroll completed 69.8% of his passes with 7.5 yards per attempt which are all career highs. Seattle rushed for 120 yards per game with 4.8 yards per attempt. Seahawks can get a lead and milk out the clock against a Rams team with issues offensively. The under is 3-1 in their past four meetings in Seattle. Play Seattle and Los Angeles under 46.5.
Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants NFL Betting Pick Prediction 9/10/2023
Cowboys at Giants—Dallas has their left guard doubtful and left tackle questionable on offense. On defense their free safety is doubtful. New York has their tight end questionable and defensive starters are healthy. New York was a playoff team in 2022 and earned a road win in the playoffs. New York defense gave up a lot of yards but were bailed out with a top five finish on third down and red zone. They gave up 144 rushing yards per game with 5.2 yards a carry. Mike McCarthy takes over the play calling and will emphasize the run game. The goal is to keep his defense fresh. Tony Pollard is the featured back, but the Cowboys have depth in that position. A good run game slows down the opponents pass rush. Dallas’ defense held opponents to just 20 points a game. Dak Prescott has missed significant action in two of three seasons. Mistakes were costly last season as the signal caller threw 15 interceptions. Daniel Jones improved his accuracy last year, hitting on 67.2% of his throws with 6.8 yards per attempt. Dallas has dominated New York winning nine of ten games. In their two meetings last year the Cowboys averaged 410 yards. Play Dallas -3.
