The Oakland Athletics were once regarded as one of MLB’s most resilient underdog teams.

For the past two seasons, Brown established himself at first base for Oakland, but this isn’t actually because he’s good; rather, it’s because the A’s lack other quality choices.

And with Sean Murphy being sold this offseason, Brown is essentially the Athletics’ lone remaining slugger.

Brown’s 2022 statistics (.230 BA, 25 HR, 73 RBI, 11 SB,.749 OPS) weren’t terrible, but his batting average is simply too low.

Brown is still capable of hitting some long balls and draws enough walks to keep his OPS at a reasonable level. A job loss is not really a possibility for him either, given the status of the Athletics.
