For the third game of the series, Oakland is set to use lefty Zach Logue. Last week, he was shelled by Seattle, throwing up seven runs in four and a third inning of work in a defeat.

Logue did manage to strike out six batters, but it was the only bright spot in his performance. In his first start back after being promoted from Triple-A, he walked four batters, gave up three home runs, and was pulled in the fifth inning. He’s had a couple of strong performances this year, but one of them was against the Tigers.

The Rangers aren’t much better at the bat, so the southpaw should bounce back well. Over 22 innings of action, he has a 4.43 ERA and 1.39 WHIP.

Through the first two months of the season, the Athletics struggled at the bat. They have the lowest on-base percentage (.276) and the second-fewest home homers in baseball. Although they play in a pitcher-friendly venue, their hitting averages have been terrible.

They are generating only 3.3 runs per game and dropped eight of their past twelve matches heading into Friday’s matchup. The fact that they traded away their whole roster doesn’t help matters.
