They did allow 88 yards rushing on 35 carries for 2.5 yards per run.

Alabama moved to 14-0 after the 45-34 victory in the semifinals to the Oklahoma Sooners as a -14.5 betting odds favorite. Crimson Tide were able to hold their early 28-0 second quarter lead. Their offense produced 528 yards with 200 rushing for 4.8 yards per carry. Tua Tagovailoa hit on 24 of 27 for 318 yards with four touchdowns. Josh Jacobs rushed for 98 yards on 15 carries with key fourth quarter runs to help milk the clock. Defensively Alabama did allow 471 yards to the Oklahoma offense with 308 passing and two touchdowns. They did allow 163 rushing yards for 5.1 yards per run.

What was impressive was the Crimson Tide faced LSU and Mississippi St in back to back weeks. That was the hardest part of their schedule. They outscored the Tigers and Bulldogs by a combined 53-0. That was the most impressive back to back wins by any team this season. Crimson Tide pointed to peak their regular season defense for those back to back games. Now Nick Saban will have his defense peak for Clemson with a month off prior to their win against Oklahoma. Crimson Tide got their full game endurance workout in the semifinals. Second game off the layoff for Alabama means their defense will put on a peak performance. Clemson did not face near the competition that the Crimson Tide did. Tigers quarterback Tyler Lawrence is a freshman and will have a tough time facing a Nick Saban defense for the first time. Look, with all those very good defensive teams on their schedule the Crimson Tide still averaged 527 yards and 47.7 points per game. Schedule strength and experience at quarterback gives Alabama an edge in this spot. Tua has been in this spotlight. Play Alabama -5.
