Thursday’s Major League Baseball schedule presents a compact five-game betting card, making selectivity more important than volume for the Tony’s Picks Morning Show crew.
Tony T was joined by Al Ninos, with additional selections supplied by Ron Hahn and D’Andre Stevenson. The Morning Show chat also contributed sides, totals, pitcher props and home-run bets across the abbreviated schedule.
The strongest agreement developed around the St. Louis Cardinals, Tampa Bay Rays and Detroit Tigers. The Cardinals attracted support from both Tony T and Al Ninos, while Tony and D’Andre Stevenson aligned on Tampa Bay. Detroit received support in several different markets, including the run line, full-game under, first-five under and a starting-pitcher win prop.
Odds listed below are snapshots from the uploaded July 23, 2026 market report. Prices can move throughout the day, especially on a short card with concentrated betting activity.

Morning Show Consensus Leaders
St. Louis Cardinals moneyline: Tony T and Al Ninos
Tampa Bay Rays moneyline: Tony T and D’Andre Stevenson
Detroit Tigers: Tony T and Ron Hahn on the run line, with Al Ninos supporting the full-game under
The Cardinals moneyline emerged as the clearest traditional side consensus. Detroit produced the widest collection of related positions, but those selections attack different portions of the market rather than forming one identical consensus wager.

Pitching and Matchup Analysis
Atlanta enters the opener as the largest favorite on Thursday’s board, with Chris Sale providing the Braves with a significant starting-pitching advantage.
San Diego was expected to use Kyle Hart as an opener before Griffin Canning entered as the bulk pitcher. The arrangement creates uncertainty concerning both early-inning effectiveness and how much length the Padres can reasonably expect from their pitching staff.
Tony T identified San Diego’s pitching construction as the primary reason to avoid the Padres. He noted that Canning had produced an ERA above 7.50 on the road while allowing opponents to slug approximately .491 against him in those situations.
The concern extends beyond the bulk pitcher. San Diego’s starters have struggled to work deep into games, increasing the burden on a bullpen that carried an ERA above 5.00 with a WHIP around 1.42 over its recent sample entering Thursday.
Atlanta’s home offense also creates a difficult matchup for a staff dealing with declining relief numbers. The Braves entered the game batting approximately .254 at home with a .423 slugging percentage.
San Diego’s road offense had been considerably less productive, batting around .229 with a .310 on-base percentage. The Padres will need their most experienced hitters to generate traffic against Sale before Atlanta can turn the game over to its strongest relief options.
Some support for the underdog emerged from the chat because Xander Bogaerts, Manny Machado and Fernando Tatis Jr. have produced encouraging individual results against Sale. That batter-versus-pitcher history offers a case for San Diego +1.5, but it does not eliminate the broader pitching-depth disadvantage.
Sharp Betting View
The Atlanta moneyline requires an uncomfortable premium, so Tony T preferred to reduce the price by moving to the run line.
That approach is logical on a game in which Atlanta owns the superior starter, the more trustworthy bullpen profile and the stronger recent home hitting numbers. The greatest risk is that Sale works efficiently but San Diego keeps the game close enough to cover the extra run.
The first-five under also received support from the Morning Show chat. That position relies heavily on Sale controlling San Diego and the Padres’ opener-bulk combination avoiding a damaging inning early.

Minnesota Twins at Cleveland Guardians
Market Snapshot
Game Time: 1:10 p.m. ET

Minnesota Moneyline: approximately +118 to +133
Cleveland -1.5: approximately +152 to +163

Over 7.5: approximately -113 to -122
Under 7.5: approximately +100 to -107
Pitching and Matchup Analysis
Minnesota and Cleveland produced the least agreement among the Morning Show contributors.
Cleveland was installed as a moderate home favorite, while the low total of 7.5 suggested that the market expected pitching and run prevention to control the game.
The Guardians’ appeal comes from their home-field advantage and their ability to play low-scoring games without requiring a large offensive output. Cleveland does not necessarily need to create an early margin if its pitching staff limits free passes and prevents Minnesota from producing extra-base damage.
Minnesota offers underdog value for bettors who believe the starting matchup is closer than the moneyline indicates. The Twins also received direct support from Kendrick Molo in the chat.
The relatively expensive Minnesota +1.5 price limits the attractiveness of taking the insurance run. Bettors supporting the Twins may find more value in the moneyline rather than paying close to -190 for the run line.
Sharp Betting View
The market established Cleveland as the more likely winner but stopped short of pricing the Guardians as an overwhelming favorite.
This matchup is best approached through either the moneyline or the total. Cleveland -1.5 offers a plus-money return, but the low total increases the likelihood of a one-run result and makes laying the run less appealing.
Neither Tony T nor Al Ninos released an official selection on this matchup. That absence is noteworthy on a five-game card because it demonstrates that the Morning Show was willing to pass rather than manufacture action.

Tampa Bay -1.5: approximately +139 to +163

Under 8.5: approximately -103 to -112
Pitching and Matchup Analysis
Tampa Bay and Toronto opened close to a pick’em, but the Morning Show’s statistical case leaned toward the Rays.
Tony T highlighted Tampa Bay’s superior recent offensive form. The Rays entered Thursday batting approximately .271 over their previous 26 games with a slugging percentage around .465.
Toronto’s offense had moved in the opposite direction. The Blue Jays were batting near .219 over their previous 24 games with an on-base percentage around .279.
Those numbers create a clear difference in the quality of recent plate appearances. Tampa Bay had been producing both contact and extra-base impact, while Toronto struggled to establish consistent traffic.
Toronto’s expected starter also carried concerning recent numbers. Tony cited an ERA around 5.70 and an opposing slugging percentage near .594 over his previous five starts.
Tampa Bay’s bullpen entered in the better recent form, strengthening the Rays’ case in a game priced close to even.
The divisional performance also favored Tampa Bay. The Rays were 21-12 against division opponents, producing approximately 9.5 units of profit. Toronto had gone 8-16 over its previous 24 games and lost around 12.5 units during that stretch.
Sharp Betting View
The Rays do not need to overcome a large market tax. That makes Tampa Bay moneyline one of the more efficient ways to attack Thursday’s card.
Toronto retains home-run upside, particularly through Vladimir Guerrero Jr., but its broader offensive profile has not provided enough consistency to justify laying a price.
The most important factor is the combination of Tampa Bay’s recent offensive production and Toronto’s struggling starting-pitcher form. If those trends carry into Thursday, the Rays should create more scoring opportunities over nine innings.

Pitching and Matchup Analysis
The Cardinals attracted the strongest agreement between Tony T and Al Ninos.
St. Louis was expected to start Michael McGreevy against Arizona right-hander Brandon Pfaadt. Al Ninos identified McGreevy as the superior starter and considered the Cardinals’ modest home moneyline worth laying.
McGreevy’s home performance drove much of Tony T’s analysis. He entered with an ERA around 1.89 and a WHIP close to 1.00 in his home starts.
Arizona had struggled in comparable road situations. The Diamondbacks were approximately 15-24 on the road against right-handed starters, costing bettors close to five units.
Their offensive production in those spots had also been limited. Arizona was batting around .227 on the road against right-handers with an on-base percentage close to .301.
St. Louis had gone 11-7 as a home favorite of -110 or higher, returning approximately 2.5 units.
Pfaadt had not been consistently poor entering Thursday, but the Cardinals held the cleaner combination of starting-pitcher form, home-field advantage and matchup-specific offensive numbers.
Sharp Betting View
The Cardinals moneyline avoids the need to lay 1.5 runs in a matchup carrying a relatively modest total.
McGreevy’s ability to limit traffic at home gives St. Louis a dependable foundation, but Arizona remains dangerous enough offensively that the run line introduces unnecessary variance.
Al Ninos also included St. Louis as the side portion of his two-team parlay with the under in Detroit.
The Diamondbacks–Cardinals under received support from the Morning Show chat. That position aligns with McGreevy’s strong home profile and Arizona’s weaker road production against right-handed pitching.

Pitching and Matchup Analysis
Detroit drew the greatest variety of positions on the Morning Show card.
Tony T supported the Tigers on the run line, Al Ninos preferred the under and Ron Hahn backed Detroit while also targeting the Tigers’ starting-pitcher win market.
Al Ninos viewed the pitching matchup as favorable for a low-scoring game. He considered Detroit’s starter to be in excellent form and believed Kansas City starter Randy Dobnak could contribute enough innings to keep the total under, even though some of Dobnak’s supporting metrics were less convincing than his ERA.
The weather also supported a run-suppression argument, with the wind expected to blow inward at approximately seven miles per hour.
Tony T’s Detroit position was based partly on dramatic home-road run-line splits. Kansas City entered approximately 19-31 against the run line on the road, costing bettors around 20 units.
Detroit had gone approximately 31-19 against the run line at home, producing around 13.5 units of profit.
The Tigers’ bullpen had also performed well, giving Detroit a path to protect a multi-run lead after the starter departed.
The concern for laying Detroit’s moneyline is the price. With some books listing the Tigers above -200, the run line offers a more attractive risk-to-return profile.
Sharp Betting View
The Detroit run line and the full-game under can both win, but they depend on a specific game script.
The ideal combined scenario is a controlled Detroit victory in which the Tigers score four or five runs while Kansas City remains below three. A result such as 4-1, 4-2 or 5-2 would reward both positions.
The wagers are not completely correlated, however. Detroit could dominate offensively and send the game over, while Kansas City could keep the game low-scoring but close enough to cover +1.5.
Ron Hahn’s starting-pitcher win prop is another way to support Detroit without laying the entire moneyline price, although pitcher-win markets carry additional dependency on innings qualification, bullpen performance and official scoring.
The Picks
Tony T: Detroit Tigers -1.5
Al Ninos: Royals–Tigers under
Ron Hahn: Detroit Tigers -1.5

Al Ninos Two-Team Parlay
St. Louis Cardinals Moneyline
The Cardinals own the superior home starting-pitcher profile with Michael McGreevy, while Arizona has struggled on the road against right-handed starters.
Kansas City Royals–Detroit Tigers Under
Detroit’s starting pitching and bullpen form support a lower-scoring result, while Kansas City’s road offense faces a difficult matchup. Wind blowing inward provides an additional environmental advantage for under bettors.
Parlay Assessment
The two selections are independent, which avoids the exaggerated correlation risk found in some same-game parlays.
The Cardinals are the stronger consensus leg. The Detroit under carries more uncertainty because Thursday’s uploaded reports showed meaningful total variation across sportsbooks. Bettors should confirm the current number before placing the wager.
Al Ninos emphasized that Thursday’s limited schedule was not a card on which bettors should force action. His parlay was built from his two preferred free selections rather than from a need to manufacture additional volume.
Morning Show Consensus Report
Number One Consensus: St. Louis Cardinals Moneyline
Tony T and Al Ninos both supported St. Louis.
The Cardinals have the starting-pitcher advantage at home, and Arizona’s road numbers against right-handed pitching strengthen the matchup case.
Consensus Strength: Strong
Number Two Consensus: Tampa Bay Rays Moneyline
Tony T, D’Andre Stevenson and Las Vegas from the Morning Show chat supported Tampa Bay.
The Rays entered with the stronger recent offense and the more favorable bullpen form, while Toronto had struggled to reach base consistently.
Consensus Strength: Strong
Number Three Consensus: Detroit Tigers -1.5
Tony T and Ron Hahn supported Detroit’s run-line position.
Kansas City’s poor road run-line record and Detroit’s profitable home run-line performance provide the clearest statistical support.
Consensus Strength: Strong
Number Four Consensus: Royals–Tigers Under
Al Ninos released the full-game under, while Las Vegas supported the first-five under and considered a no-run-first-inning wager.
The positions are not identical, but they share the expectation that pitching will control the early and middle portions of the game.
Consensus Strength: Moderate
Split Decision: Twins at Guardians
Las Vegas backed Cleveland, while Kendrick Molo supported Minnesota.
The disagreement and lack of an official panel selection make this the easiest game to leave off a reduced betting card.
Consensus Strength: None

St. Louis Cardinals moneyline
The price remains manageable, the starting-pitcher matchup favors St. Louis and both Tony T and Al Ninos independently reached the same conclusion.
Best Near-Pick’em Position
Tampa Bay Rays moneyline
Tampa Bay offers an opportunity to back the team with stronger recent offensive and bullpen form without laying a significant favorite’s price.
Best Run-Line Position
Detroit Tigers -1.5
Detroit’s home run-line record and Kansas City’s road run-line struggles provide the clearest reason to move away from the expensive Tigers moneyline.

Best Contrarian Pick
San Diego Padres +1.5
The Padres have several veteran hitters with experience against Chris Sale, but this position must overcome Atlanta’s substantial pitching-depth advantage.
Best Home-Run Prop
Drake Baldwin to hit a home run

Leaderboard and Performance Recap
Al Ninos entered Thursday as one of the strongest performers at Tony’s Picks, reporting approximately 2,142 units of profit based on the site’s $100 unit accounting method.
His recent performance profile showed sustained profitability rather than one isolated winning run. Al Ninos also had his Grand Slam MLB package available for Thursday’s card, along with longer-term pass options.
D’Andre Stevenson was recognized during the show for the strong recent performance of his on-demand content. The show did not provide a complete numerical record for that run, but his recent selections were described as being in excellent form.
Nick Lagouretos was also mentioned as a handicapper who had remained near the leaderboard and continued to contribute daily MLB content.
The leaderboard recap reinforces the Morning Show’s central message for the abbreviated Thursday schedule: the goal is not to bet every game. The strongest long-term performers frequently protect their bankroll by reducing volume when the market does not provide enough value.

A complete Wednesday record was not stated during the show.
Final Betting Summary
Thursday’s short schedule calls for a reduced and disciplined betting card.
The St. Louis Cardinals moneyline stands as the most direct panel consensus, supported by Tony T and Al Ninos. Tampa Bay offers another compelling side at close to pick’em pricing, with Tony T, D’Andre Stevenson and Morning Show chat support.
Detroit is the most versatile betting position. Tony T and Ron Hahn prefer the Tigers -1.5, while Al Ninos expects the pitching matchup to keep the game under the total. Bettors seeking a smaller-market alternative can consider the Detroit starting-pitcher win prop or an early-inning under.
Atlanta owns the clearest overall talent and pitching advantage, but the expensive moneyline makes the Braves run line the preferred approach for Tony T.
Minnesota and Cleveland generated no panel consensus and produced opposing chat selections. On an abbreviated card, that disagreement makes the matchup a logical pass unless the market moves enough to create new value.
The Morning Show’s strongest positions for July 23, 2026 are the St. Louis Cardinals moneyline, Tampa Bay Rays moneyline and Detroit Tigers -1.5, with the Royals–Tigers under serving as the preferred total.
