On defense they allowed over 4 yards per run to the Zips with 136 passing on 28 attempts. Cole Snyder hit 19 of 34 for 142 yards and a touchdown. He averaged 4.2 yards per attempt. Both teams are near the bottom of college football in total defense. Buffalo ran for only 3.5 yards per run and 5.6 yards per pass attempt. Central Michigan is more efficient offensively by far. Washington St at UCLA 3PM ET—Washington St improved to 4-0 with their 38-35 home victory to Oregon St Beavers two weeks ago. The Cougars rushed for 3.5 yards a carry. They surrendered 242 yards rushing to the Beavers with 198 passing on 34 attempts. Cameran Ward hit 28 of 34 for 404 yards with four touchdowns. He averaged 11.9 yards per attempt and had a rushing touchdown. UCLA fell to 3-1 with their 14-7 road defeat to Utah. The Bruins rushed for only 9 yards on 32 attempts. They did limit the Utes to just over two yards a carry with 117 passing on 17 attempts. Freshman quarterback Dante Moore hit 15 of 35 for 234 yards with a touchdown and interception. He averaged 6.7 yards per attempt and took seven sacks. Bruin’s defense recorded four sacks. Huge discrepancy between these two quarterbacks. Moore is an eighteen-year-old freshman the struggled with pressure and got nothing from his run game. Washington St is 6th in the nation in total offense by making big plays in the passing game averaging 13.9 yards per completion and 10.4 yards per attempt. Northern Illinois vs. Akron College Football Betting Pick Prediction 10/7/2023
Northern Illinois at Akron3:30PM ET—Northern Illinois fell to 1-4 after their 35-33 road defeat to the Toledo Rockets. NIU rushed for 186 yards. They surrendered 261 yards rushing to the Rockets with 281 passing on 20 attempts. Rocky Lombardi hit 21 of 31 for 258 yards with two touchdowns and 8.3 yards per attempt. He did have a rushing touchdown. Akron fell to 1-4 with their 13-10 home defeat to Buffalo. Zips ran for 4.5 yards per rush. They limited the Bulls to 3.5 yards per rush and 142 passing yards on 34 attempts. DJ Irons hit 19 of 26 for 136 yards with a touchdown. He averaged 5.2 yards per run and ran for 77 yards. Irons suffered a left leg injury and exited the game. Rumors from media reports is the injury could be long term. Jeff Undercuffler saw action six games last year. He saw action in games against FBS opponents and completed 62.5% of his passes with an interception but only 4.8 yards per attempt. He had negative rushing yards in those three games. Undercuffler saw work in six games in 2023 hitting 58.3% of his passes with 6.6 yards per attempt. He has thrown nine interceptions the past two seasons on 151 passing attempts. Akron beat Northern Illinois last year 44-12 with 512 yards of offense with Undercuffler at quarterback passing for 312 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. The Huskies sit 120th in the nation in total offense. Akron is defending holding teams to 314 yards a game. Northern Illinois allows 4.7 yards per run. North Texas at Navy 3:30PM ET—North Texas improved to 2-2 on the season after their 45-31 home victory to FCS Abilene Christian. Their lone win against an FBS team came on the road to Louisiana Tech 40-37. Losses came to FIU by seven and home to Cal by 37. UL Monroe transfer quarterback Chandler Rogers is completing 60.3% of his passes against the FBS with four touchdowns, one interception and 8.3 yards per attempt. Navy fell to 1-3 after their 44-30 home defeat to South Florida. Midshipmen rushed for 240 yards on 48 attempts. They limited USF to just over two yards per run but 338 yards passing on 34 attempts. Navy had a +2-turnover margin. Tai Lavatai hit 1 of 5 for seven yards. He rushed for 21 yards with two touchdowns. North Texas is 132nd in the nation in total defense by allowing 500 yards per game. Teams are rushing for 5.9 yards a carry on the Mean Green. Midshipmen run for 4.8 yards a carry. North Texas is 22nd in total offense with 466 yards a game. They are running for 4.8 yards a carry and strong in the passing game. Both defenses have their struggles and look like a day for both offenses. Play North Texas and Navy over 61.

Purdue at Iowa 3:30PM ET—Purdue improves to 2-3 with their 44-19 home victory to Illinois. Boilermakers rushed for 189 yards. They allowed 149 yards rushing to the Fighting Illini with 226 passing yards on 32 attempts. Boilermakers recorded six sacks. Hudson Card hit on 18 of 26 passes for 217 yards with two touchdowns. He averaged 8.3 yards per attempt. Iowa improved to 4-1 following their 26-16 home victory to Michigan St. Hawkeyes rushed for only 61 yards for just over two yards per run. They surrendered 156 yards rushing to the Spartans with 193 passing on 44 attempts. Iowa had a +2 turnover margin. Cade McNamara is likely out for the season with a knee injury. Wisconsin transfer Deacon Hill is completing 42.9% of his passes with a touchdown and interception. He averages 4.7 yards per pass attempt in his four limited appearances this season. He saw action against Michigan St hitting on 11 of 27 for 115 yards with a touchdown and pick. He averaged only 4.3 yards per attempt. Hawkeyes were aided by a 70-yard punt return. Iowa defense sits 34th in the nation. They hold opponents to 3.8 yards per rush, 8.1 yards per completion and only 4.7 yards per completed pass sitting near the top of college football in these defensive categories. He averaged 7.1 yards per pass attempt. Clemson has the ninth ranked defense in the nation. They hold teams to 4.3 yards per play, ranking fifth. Demon Deacons complete only 59.8% of their passes. They held the Tigers to 3.5 yards per run with 263 passing yards on 37 attempts. Syracuse allowed five sacks and had a -2-turnover margin. Garrett Shrader completed 15 of 29 for 181 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. He threw for 6.2 yards a carry. North Carolina improved to 4-0 after their 41-24 road win at Pittsburgh two weeks ago. Tar Heels were held to 77 yards rushing for two yards per run. They allowed four yards per run to the Panthers with 194 passing on 33 attempts. North Carolina had a +3-turnover margin. Drake Maye completed 22 of 30 for 296 yards with a touchdown. He averaged 9.9 yards per pass attempt and had two rushing touchdowns. Maye was sacked five times. Orange does have the 25th ranked offense putting up 463 yards a game. Tar Heels pass defense struggled against Appalachian St and South Carolina. They contained weak offensive teams in Pittsburgh and Minnesota. They did allow 154 yards rushing to the Bulldogs but only 107 passing on 27 attempts. Jalen Milroe hit on 10 of 12 for 164 yards. Texas A&M improved to 4-1 after their 34-22 neutral site win to Arkansas. Aggies rushed for 204 yards. They limited the Razorbacks to barely over one yard per carry with 132 passing on 17 attempts. Texas A&M survived a -2-turnover margin. LSU transfer Max Johnson completed 17 of 28 for 210 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. He averaged 7.5 yards per pass and ran for 57 yards. Aggies gave up 48 points in a fifteen-point loss at Miami. A&M allows 12.9 yards per completed pass and 6.9 yards per attempt.
