Virginia Tech at Rutgers 3:30PM ET—Virginia Tech fell to 1-1 after their 24-17 home defeat to Purdue. Hokies were shut out in the second half. Their ran game generated only 11 yards on 22 carries. They did allow Purdue four yards per run with 248 passing on 34 attempts. Grant Wells completed just 48.5% with 7.4 yards per attempt. He finished with 243 passing, two touchdowns but two interceptions. Wells is questionable with an ankle injury, but media reports have him as probable. Rutgers is 2-0 on the season following their 36-7 home victory to Temple. Scarlet Knights ran the football 52 times rushing for 254 yards. They limited the Owls to under three yards a carry and 230 passing on 48 attempts. Gavin Wimsatt was just 10 of 21 for 198 yards with a touchdown. He averaged 9.4 yards per attempt. Quarterback play on both sides is not inspiring. Hokies are 124th in the nation in rushing. Rutgers 108th in passing. This has the look of a defensive game. Hokies are 9-1 to the under the past three Septembers. Scarlet Knights 11-2 to the under at home. Play Virginia Tech and Rutgers under 39.5.
South Carolina vs. Georgia College Betting Football Pick Prediction 9/16/2023
South Carolina at Georgia 3:30PM ET—South Carolina is 1-1 after their 47-21 home victory to FCS Furman. The Gamecocks opened the year with a 31-17 defeat to North Carolina. They were held to only three second half points. The team had 31 rushing attempts for -2 yards. South Carolina did allow four yards per run to the Tar Heels with 269 passing on 32 attempts. Spencer Rattler did complete 77% of his throws for 9.1 yards per attempt passing for 353 yards. The struggles came in the red zone and was sacked nine times. Georgia is 2-0 after their 45-3 home victory to Ball St. Georgia’s run game just pedestrian with 99 yards on 28 carries. The defense limited the Cardinals to under four yards a carry with 147 passing on 37 attempts. Carson Beck completed 77% of his throws for 283 yards averaging 9.4 yards per attempt. He had two touchdowns and an interception. This is an inexperienced South Carolina team returning ten starters with only four on defense. Bulldogs have pounded the Gamecocks the past three seasons by 41, 27 and 31 points. Rattler took a lot of sacks in that loss to North Carolina game and that is concerning. Play Georgia -27.5.
Western Michigan vs. Iowa College Betting Football Pick Prediction 9/16/2023
Western Michigan at Iowa 3:30PM ET—Western Michigan fell to 1-1 with their 48-7 road defeat at Syracuse. Broncos were down 45-7 at the half. Offensively they put up just under four yards per carry. Defensively the Broncos allowed four yards per run but 343 passing yards on 39 attempts. Quarterback Jack Salopek completed 68.2% of his passes but only five yards per attempt with an interception. They utilized three quarterbacks last week with not much success. Iowa is 2-0 after their 20-13 road win at Iowa St. Hawkeyes built the 20-3 lead after three quarters. They rushed for 3.5 yards a carry. They limited the Cyclones to under three yards per rush and 203 passing yards on 44 attempts. Cade McNamara completed just 54.5% with only 5.6 yards per attempt. He threw for 123 yards and an interception. Hawkeyes did have a defensive touchdown on an interception return. Western Michigan returned only two starters on defense. Western Michigan is 6-0 on the road in the non-conference. Iowa 6-0 to the under in their past six non-conference games and 9-1 to the under the past three Septembers. Broncos struggle in pass protection and 107th in the nation in yards per play. Take Western Michigan and Iowa under 43.
Western Kentucky vs. Ohio St College Betting Football Pick Prediction 9/16/2023
Western Kentucky at Ohio St 4PM ET—Western Kentucky is 2-0 after their 52-22 home victory to FCS Houston Christian. The Hilltoppers opened with the 41-24 home victory to USF. Western Kentucky rushed for over five yards per attempt. They did allow 374 rushing yards to South Florida on 61 attempts but only 166 passing yards on 34 attempts. Austin Reed went 29 of 50 against the Bulls for 336 yards and two touchdowns. He averaged 6.7 yards per attempt. WKU had a +3 turnover margin. Ohio St is 2-0 after their 35-7 home victory to FCS Youngstown St. Buckeyes opened the year defeating Indiana on the road 23-3. Buckeye’s defense held the Hoosiers to only 153 yards with under three yards per rush. Ohio St held Indiana to 82 passing yards on 21 attempts. Buckeyes rushed for over 4.5 yards a carry in the win. Kyle McCord was 20 of 33 for 239 yards and an interception averaging 7.2 yards per attempt. Hilltoppers are an inexperienced defense with four starters returning. WKU is a good passing team and are fourth in pass attempts. Their offense has been efficient this year. Play Western Kentucky +28.
Tulane vs. Southern Miss College Betting Football Pick Prediction 9/16/2023
Tulane at Southern Miss 4PM ET—Tulane is 1-1 on the year after their 37-20 home defeat to Ole Miss. Mean Green ground game sputtered with 111 yards rushing on 45 attempts. They did limit the Rebels on the ground but surrendered 274 yards passing on 28 attempts. Quarterback Michael Pratt suffered a knee injury in Week 1 and missed the game. Pratt returned to practice on Tuesday. He had a huge performance in Week 1, hitting 93.3% of his passes with 294 yards and four touchdowns. Southern Miss fell to 1-1 with their 66-13 road defeat to the Florida St Seminoles. Southern Miss was torched defensively allowing 554 yards with 306 rushing on 37 attempts. They allowed 248 passing on 32 attempts. Golden Eagles rushed for over three yards per carry. Billy Wiles completed only 32.4% of his throws with 4.5 yards per attempt and an interception. Pratt returning to practice a good sign. Golden Eagles giving up seven yards per play. Southern Miss did win last year’s meeting by three on the road. Golden Eagles experienced on offense. Mean Green’s run game not as dominant as last year. Play Southern Miss +12.5.

UL Monroe at Texas A&M 4PM ET—UL Monroe is 2-0 after their 24-14 home victory to FCS Lamar. They opened with the 17-13 home victory to Army. War Hawks were able to rush on the Black Knights with 207 yards on 32 carries. They held Army to 3.5 yards per rush and only 107 passing on 12 attempts. Sophomore quarterback Hunter Herring was just 4 of 9 against Army with 2.4 yards per attempt and a touchdown pass. Texas A&M fell to 1-1 with their 48-33 road defeat to Miami. Aggies rushed for just over three yards a carry. They did limit the Hurricanes ground attack but allowed 374 yards passing on 30 attempts. Conner Weigman completed 58.5% for 6.3 yards per attempt. He had 336 yards passing with two touchdowns and two picks plus a rushing touchdown. Team had a -2 turnover margin. Warhawks have the 131st ranked passing offense in college football. Aggies run defense has been good this season. UL Monroe has only ten starters back from last year and is inexperienced at the quarterback position. Play Texas A&M -36.

Washington at Michigan St 5PM ET—Washington improved to 2-0 after their 43-10 home victory to Tulsa Golden Hurricane. Huskies rushed for five yards per attempt. Defensively they surrendered 4.1 yards per run and limited Tulsa to 150 passing yards on 32 attempts. Michael Penix completed 73.7% for 409 yards with 10.8 yards per attempt. Penix had three touchdowns and one interception. Michigan St is 1-1 after their 45-14 home victory to FCS Richmond. Spartans opened the year with the 31-7 home win to Central Michigan. The team ran for four yards a carry. They limited the Chippewas to 219 yards with 96 passing on 25 attempts. Noah Kim completed 58.1% of his throws with 279 yards with 9 yards per attempt. He had two touchdown passes. Huskies are second in college football with 9.2 yards per play. Spartans in recent seasons have struggled in pass defense. Kim looked good at quarterback. Mel Tucker will not be on the sidelines for Michigan St. Last year they combined for 67 points as the Huskies gained 503 yards. Washington had 397 yards passing and Michigan St 323. They did allow 287 passing yards on 36 attempts. The team rushed for under four yards per attempt. Quarterback Jalen Jones was 8 of 15 for 116 yards and 7.7 yards per attempt. He had a touchdown throw and pick. Charlotte is 110th in the nation in rush defense plus allowing 4.9 yards per attempt. That is a weakness that can be exploited by the Panthers.
