New York Liberty vs Seattle Storm 7/2/2023 Picks Predictions Previews

The New York Liberty (10-4) will take on the Seattle Storm (4-11) at Climate Pledge Arena on Sunday night as part of their West Coast road tour.

With ten victories in their first fourteen games played and a long-losing skid snapped by a 17-point loss to Las Vegas, New York enters Sunday as one of the strongest teams in the WNBA.

New York has been among the league’s top offensive squads this season, scoring 87.5 points per game on 45.7% of their shots, but their defense has been weak, allowing 81.3 points per game.

This season, Breanna Stewart has been New York’s offensive MVP, averaging 22.1 points per game on 47.9% shooting and 9.9 rebounds per game, which leads the club.

The team’s second-leading scorer, Sabrina Ionescu, averages 15.3 points per game, while Betnijah Laney scores 10.4 points each contest.

Courtney Vandersloot has been a critical player for New York this season, averaging 11.2 points and pulling out the most assists with 8.4 a game.

In their most recent game, the New York Liberty faced up against the Las Vegas Aces and were defeated 98-81 to lose.

New York won the game with a field goal percentage of 47.7% (31 of 65) and converted 8 of their 20 long-range attempts. The Liberty converted 11 of their 15 shots at the charity stripe for a 73.3% success percentage.

They managed to capture 31 boards, with eight coming from the attacking side. In addition, they contributed 21 assists, seven turnovers, three steals, and 21 assists overall.

On 40 out of 69 shots, New York’s defense allowed 58.0% from the field. For the game, Las Vegas recorded ten steals and provided four assists.

Las Vegas also had one block and 27 rebounds (4 offensive, 23 defensive). Las Vegas made 9 of 10 tries at the free throw line and had a 90.0% success rate. Nine out of their 21 attempts from beyond the arc were also successful.

With only four victories after 15 games and four losses in the previous five, the Seattle Storm, one of the poorest teams in the league, are still playing at home on Sunday.

After winning by two points in OT in their last game, Seattle has dropped two straight to Minnesota.

Seattle’s offense has been horrible, scoring just 80.3 points per game on a dismal 39.9% of their shots from the field, while their defense has been appalling, allowing 86.3 points per game.

Despite only shooting 39.4% from the field, Jewell Loyd leads Seattle as one of the greatest scorers in the WNBA, averaging 25.7 points per game.

In addition to leading the team with 8.6 rebounds, Ezi Magbegor is the only other player to average in double digits, coming in second on the squad with 15.1 points per game.

Ivana Dojkic leads Seattle with 3.9 assists per game and is third with 9.2 points per game.
