St. Louis Cardinals vs Texas Rangers Predictions 6/5/2023

Texas dominated Seattle in the middle match of their three-game series on Saturday, picking up their second consecutive victory and eighth in the previous ten games.

With a record of 37-20 entering Sunday, the Rangers have a 2.5-game advantage over the Astros for first place in the AL West. Texas pounded up 19 hits on Saturday, with Marcus Semien dominating with four runs and three RBI.

Corey Seager and Nathaniel Lowe each added three runs and an RBI. Leody Taveras, Mitch Garver, Semien (his ninth), and Lowe (his sixth) all hit home runs in the game.

Despite pitching three innings and giving up three runs on six hits, four walks, and five strikeouts, Andrew Heaney was not considered in the decision.

Josh Sborz (2-2) earned the victory and did not allow any hits or walks as he struck out two batters.

In this game, Martin Perez will be making his 12th start of the year for the Rangers. In 61 innings of work this year, he has a 6-1 record, a 4.43 ERA, a 1.541 WHIP, 20 walks, and 44 strikeouts.

Perez’s most recent start on Tuesday’s road against the Tigers didn’t affect the decision. In 4.2 innings of work, he gave up six runs on seven hits, four walks, and three strikeouts as the Rangers defeated him 10-6.

Perez is 2-0 with a 4.82 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, 6 walks, and 13 strikeouts across 18.2 innings pitched in his last three starts. In this game against the Cardinals, Perez made his third career start.

In 12.1 innings pitched against them, he has a 1-0 record, a 4.38 ERA, a 1.378 WHIP, four walks, and three strikeouts.

In 20 career starts at Globe Life Field, Perez is 8-5 with a 2.70 ERA, 1.303 WHIP, 42 walks, and 114 Ks over 116.2 innings of work.

  • The Texas Rangers are 5-1 SU in their last six matches.
  • The total went under in seven of Texas’ last eight matches against St. Louis.
  • The Texas Rangers are 6-0 SU in their last six matches at home.

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Texas Rangers The MLB pick for this game is the Texas Rangers. St. Louis has been having difficulties lately, despite appearing to turn the corner in the early days of May.

Given that the Cardinals are 10 games below.500, one must seriously question whether John Mozeliak will be willing to trade at the deadline.

In his limited action this season, Wainwright struggled, recording an ERA above six while generating just over five innings per start.

Texas is a dangerous squad because they can win slugfests and low-scoring games, as seen in their Friday opener against the Mariners.

Perez pitched under pressure at times this season, allowing 74 hits throughout his 61 innings of work, but the Rangers’ +143 run differential entering Sunday makes it evident that the offense can compensate for any pitching missteps.

Give Texas the advantage because they win at home. The Texas Rangers will win by a predicted score of 8-3.
