The NHL action on the ice enters the final phase of the regular season with a match-up between the Erik Karlsson-led San Jose Sharks and the Nazem Kadri-led Calgary Flames at Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary on Wednesday evening.

San Jose comes into this match-up trying to end a four-game losing streak including an embarrassing 2-6 loss on the road versus the Winnipeg Jets on Monday. The Sharks won only three in their last ten contests played for the season.

Defenseman Erik Karlsson scored two goals in leading San Jose’s offense including a goal converted from a power play assisted by Center Tomas Hertl in the final period.

The San Jose Sharks will be ending the regular season with a horrible performance as they ended up sitting in the 29th seat of the whole league after acquiring a 22-42-16 overall record with 60 points in finishing 80 contests this season.

Defenseman Erik Karlsson has already secured the Norris Trophy in the bag after he captured not only the NHL’s best defenseman title but Karlsson was also hailed as one of the league’s best players.

He led all defensemen with 25 goals, 75 assists, and 100 total points through 80 games played.

The totals went OVER in 6 of San Jose’s last 6 outings while the Sharks are 3-13 SU in their last 16 games played.

San Jose is 1-4 straight up in their last 5 matches played versus Calgary while the totals went OVER in 5 of the Sharks’ last 5 road contests.

San Jose Sharks vs Calgary Flames Predictions 4/12/2023

The Calgary Flames will be closing the regular season at home and trying to end the season with a victory to snap a two-game losing streak when hosting the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday.

Calgary lost three of the last five matches played including a 2-3 home loss in a shootout competition against the Nashville Predators on Monday.

The Flames were eliminated from playoff contention last night as they gave way to the Winnipeg Jets clinching the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Calgary will skate with the Sharks with bitterness and only their pride left to show the home crowd the last hoorah of the regular season.

The Calgary Flames have been agonizing all season without Matthew Tkachuk and Johnny Gaudreau who left the team during the offseason stint.

With the absence of the Flames’ two best players, no skater from the roster of Calgary made it to the 110-point mark for the year.

Tyler Toffoli led the Flames in points with 73 after finishing 81 games played while scoring a total of 34 goals and dishing out 39 assists for Calgary.

The totals went OVER in 5 of the Flames’ last 6 games played versus San Jose while Calgary is 4-9 SU in its last 13 home matches.

The Flames are 1-4 straight up in their last 5 outings when playing at home against the Sharks while the totals went UNDER in 5 of Calgary’s last 7 contests played in April.

San Jose Sharks vs. Calgary Flames. The NHL Pick for this contest is Calgary -275.

There will be no more shame actually in losing this game for both the Flames and the Sharks as both were already eliminated from the postseason competition.

However, Calgary will be playing at home with a 2-3 record in their last five while San Jose struggled from losing four games in a row. The prediction: Calgary Flames will win 2-1.
