Edmonton Oilers vs Anaheim Ducks 4/5/2023 Picks Predictions Previews

The Connor McDavid-led Edmonton Oilers will be at Honda Center in Anaheim to face off with the John Gibson-less Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday evening.

Edmonton placed third in the Pacific Division and already clinched a playoff spot in the Western Conference with an overall record of 45-23-9 through 77 games played with 99 points, just four points behind Vegas in the first place.

The Oilers enter this competition after winning five games in a row including a massive 3-1 victory versus the Los Angeles Kings last night.

Centers Leon Draisaitl and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins each converted a goal on a power play for Edmonton.

The Edmonton Oilers have tons of offensive firepower in their arsenal as they are looking forward to having three players hit a 100-point mark this season after Centers Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl have already reached that point.

Center Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is also cruising in that direction with 35 goals, 62 assists, and 97 points after finishing only 77 matches for the season.

The Oilers still have five more games to play and Nugent-Hopkins is about to cross a thin line into that 100-point mark for the first time in his pro hockey career.

The Edmonton Oilers declared three players included on the injured list for the year and will not be playing on Wednesday.

Goaltender Mike Smith is placed under injured reserve status for an undisclosed reason while Defenseman Ryan Murray was also put on injured reserve status due to a back injury.

Center Ryan McLeod will be out indefinitely due to an upper-body injury.

Edmonton Oilers vs Anaheim Ducks Predictions 4/5/2023

The Anaheim Ducks are limping on their way back home after losing three consecutive road matches and will try to get back on the winning track when hosting the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday.

Anaheim is already eliminated from the playoff contention in the Western Conference with an overall record of 23-44-10 and is trapped in the basement of the whole league this season.

The Ducks come into this Pacific Division rivalry battle riding on an eight-game losing streak including a heartbreaking loss to the Calgary Flames in their recent road trip to a score of 4-5.

Anaheim nailed the first two goals of the match but allowed Calgary to score three successive goals bringing the score to 2-3. The Ducks managed to score two more goals before the end of the second period to regain the lead at 4-3.

The Anaheim Ducks’ season has been a disastrous one winning just 23 contests in 77 games played but a promising season for the young and upcoming superstar Center Trevor Zegras who managed to set his career record this season by scoring 22 goals, dishing out 38 assists, and posted 60 total points in 76 games played in leading the way for the Ducks which is an impressive record for a 22-year-old skater.

The Edmonton Oilers sidelined five skaters due to specific body injuries.

Center Adam Henrique (lower body), Goalkeeper Anthony Stolarz (lower body), Right-winger Troy Terry (personal), and Defenseman Jamie Drysdale (shoulder) are out indefinitely for the year.

Defenseman Urho Vaakanainen is on injured reserve status due to a lower-body injury.

Edmonton Oilers vs. Anaheim Ducks. The NHL Pick for this contest is Edmonton -400.

This will be a match-up between one of the most dangerous teams in the NHL and the league’s worst, which turns out to be a massive mismatch.

Watch out for an explosive game with a tonnage of goals and individual points as the Oilers’ McDavid, Draisaitl, and Nugent-Hopkins will humiliate the Ducks from the first toss of the puck to the last tick of the clock in regulation.

The prediction: Edmonton Oilers will win 7-2.
