Cougars defense giving up 492 yards, 5.3 yards per rush and 351 passing with 8.6 yards per attempt. Lots of motivation for Haener for a good look as he missed games due to injury earlier in the year. Rice vs. Southern Miss—Rice is the lone losing team in the bowls as they sit at 5-7. Owls come off the 21-17 road defeat at North Texas for their third straight loss. Quarterback TJ McMahon has not played the past two games and have not participated in practice. AJ Padgett expected starter. Padgett in the loss to North Texas, completed 59.1% with 10.4 yards per attempt. He passed for 229 yards a touchdown and pick. This season, Padgett a 50% completion rate with 8.5 yards per attempt. Southern Miss finished at 6-6. They beat UL Monroe 20-10 on the road to become bowl eligible after losing three straight Conference USA games. Quarterback Trey Lowe completed 62.5% in the win with 10.6 yards per pass attempt. He threw for 170 yards and a touchdown. This season, Lowe 53.4% completion rate with 7.7 yards per attempt. The senior has a year of eligibility left so a good showing can put him in contention for next season’s starting job. SMU vs. BYU—Quarterback Jaren Hall is doubtful with an ankle injury he suffered in the final regulars season game. SMU is 7-5 after a 34-31 home win to Memphis. He completed 73.3% with 7.6 yards per attempt in the win. He threw for 228 yards and two touchdowns. Mordecai on the campaign a 64.3% completion rate with 8.1 yards per attempt. A Top Ten passer in the country will get a look up to the NFL draft so there is motivation for a good showing. BYU has won three straight after their 35-26 road win at Stanford. Cougars rolled up 451 yards with 358 rushing in the win. Past three games the Cougars have averaged 244 rushing yards with 6 yards per run. BYU backup Jacob Conover has transferred leaving the team in a bind. Cade Fennegan is reported as the likely starter in this bowl game. He is a Boise St transfer who threw 28 passes in 2020-21 season. BYU likely keep this on the ground which is a good thing considering that the Mustangs run defense past three games is allowing 214 yards with 5.5 yards per rush. Cougars have the better defense. Play BYU +4.5.

North Texas vs. Boise St College Football Pick Prediction 12/17/2022

North Texas vs. Boise St—North Texas finished at 7-6 and fired their head coach with their defensive coordinator taking over. Boise St concluded the regular season at 9-4 after their 28-16 home loss to Fresno St in the Mountain West championship Game. Broncos showed improvement with the quarterback change to the running quarterback Taylen Green. He had a poor showing in the loss to the Bulldogs by completing 44.7% with 4.6 yards per attempt. He passed for 175 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. On the year, Green a 61.4% completion rate with 7.7 yards per attempt. He has averaged 6.8 yards per rush with 467 yards. Broncos leading running back out with injury as well as two rotation receivers. Boise St coach former defensive coordinator and interim coach for North Texas is their defensive coordinator.
