Over the past several months, the Cleveland Guardians were playing as well as anyone in the league. They not only overtook the Twins and White Sox in the AL Central division, but they also won it by a landslide margin of 11 matches each.

Their greatest players will probably carry them through this last homestand against the Royals, but they do deserve a few days off. Over the next six games, the Guardians have almost nothing to play for.

They won the division, and at 87-68, there is little chance they can overtake the other division champions, the Yankees and Astros, who are both 96-59 and 102-54, respectively.

As the other division champion, they will automatically receive the third seed in the postseason, while the Yankees and Astros will receive byes. So don’t anticipate seeing many of the Guardians of the Galaxy actors in this series.
