Detroit nearly fell 38-35 to the Eagles in the first round because they were unable to manage them. However, it must be acknowledged that the Lions were constantly down until the last frame—at one point, 31-14.

They were behind 21-7 after the first quarter and again more in the third quarter by 17 points, but they remained steadfast. They managed two touchdowns in the fourth quarter but failed to stop the opponent on the last drive, losing 38-35.

The Lions played well offensively, but their defense did not show any signs of improvement. The second overall choice in this year’s draft, rookie defensive end Aidan Hutchinson, didn’t have much talent, which is one of the reasons the Eagles had little problem getting into the end zone.

Jamaal Williams scored twice on the ground, while D’Andre Swift, a 23-year-old wide receiver, had 144 running yards and one touchdown.

Jared Goff delivered a strong performance, throwing for 215 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception, but only at a 21/37 completion rate.
