Kyle Wright, a right-handed pitcher, is expected to start for Atlanta in this contest. On Friday, he defeated Houston, giving up just two runs on six hits and seven strikeouts in six complete innings.

Wright recorded his sixth strong start in his previous 7 outings by striking out 61 of 84 pitches. He enters this appearance with a 3.14 ERA.

The Pirates were a terrible club after the All-Star break, with the exception of a three-game sweep of Milwaukee at the beginning of August.

With the exception of the series against the Brewers, they lost all 26 of their matches, going 5-21, including two of their last 3 matches against Cincinnati.

Prior to adding the 5-4 victory against the Reds in the first game, Pittsburgh ended a six-game losing run with an 8-2 victory over Boston last Thursday.

After that, the Pirates dropped their next three contests, including a 2-1 loss to Atlanta on Monday.

On Wednesday in the afternoon, Pittsburgh is expected to start right-handed pitcher Mitch Keller. Due to shoulder fatigue, he had to leave his start last Tuesday, but by taking some extra rest, he was able to avoid spending time on the disabled list.

In his previous five appearances, Keller’s ERA was 4.26 and his WHIP was 1.42; for the season as a whole, his ERA is 4.49.

Wright looked excellent in recent performances, but I have no intention of betting on him at -230 on Wednesday. He was in and out of the Braves rotation since he was a poor starting pitcher for the team for a number of years.

Wright could permanently turn the corner, but I’m not sure enough to bet on it. Pittsburgh is capable of defeating strong opposition (see Milwaukee sweep earlier this month).

Over his previous five starts, Keller was a reliable starting pitcher who avoided odd numbers. Given that bettors are not now interested in backing the Pirates, they have value on the run-line. The Pittsburgh Pirates will win to a predicted score of 5-3.
