Indianapolis‘ preseason schedule began with a 27-24 defeat to the Buffalo Bills, with the last frame being outscored 17-8. Matt Ryan, the team’s new starting quarterback, played in all four of the first possessions for Indianapolis.

The Colts’ top rusher from the previous year, Jonathan Taylor, did not take the field. Despite numerous opportunities, the offense headed by Matt Ryan only managed to score three points as a result of early mistakes that the Indianapolis defense instigated.

Ryan completed his longest pass, a 17-yarder to Michael Pittman Jr., for 58 yards. The Colts’ defense forced Buffalo into five turnovers, which became routine for them after finishing second in takeaways with 33 last year.
