Detroit Lions vs. Indianapolis Colts NFL Pick Prediction 8/20/2022
Lions at Colts—Detroit opened the preseason losing 27-23 at home to the Atlanta Falcons. Starting quarterback Jared Goff threw four passes in the opener with Blough and Boyle seeing heavy action. Most Lions starters not expected to play as both teams are conducting joint practices. Lions did move the football for 393 yards with 292 passing. Defense did surrender 168 rushing yards for 5.8 yards per carry. Colts fell to Buffalo in their opener on the road 27-24. Indianapolis was expected to play more starters in the preseason to avoid slow start to the regular season. With the joint practices Colts wont play starters but will play the following week. Behind Matt Ryan are Nick Foles, Sam Ehlinger and Jack Coan. Each saw action in the preseason opener. Colts defense surrendered 369 yards to the Bills with 304 threw the air. Indy posted 288 yards on the Bills in defeat running for 3.9 yards per carry. With the Lions moving the football in their opener will take them here. Play Detroit -1.5.
Las Vegas Raiders vs. Miami Dolphins NFL Pick Prediction 8/20/2022
Raiders at Dolphins—Raiders have won and covered both preseason games after their 26-20 win at home to Minnesota. Derek Carr did not play in the win Stidham, Mullens and Garbers seeing action. The running game generated 140 yards. Las Vegas has depth at running back and have run the football effectively in the preseason. Miami defeats Tampa Bay 26-24 on the road in their opener. Tua didn’t play so rookie quarterback Skylar Thompson played the whole game throwing for 218 yards and a touchdown. Tua may not see much if any action on Saturday. Dolphins defense did give up 301 yards passing to the Buccaneers backups last week. Play Las Vegas -1.
Dallas Cowboys vs. LA Chargers NFL Pick Prediction 8/20/2022
Cowboys at Chargers—Dallas in their preseason opener dropped a 17-7 decision to the Denver Broncos on the road. Cooper Rush and Ben DiNucci saw action under center. With joint practices this week the Cowboys will likely sit starters. In their defeat to the Broncos the Cowboys gained 316 yards but passing for only 175 for 4.9 yards per attempt. Defensively they did surrender 285 yards to the Broncos with 7 yards per attempt. Chargers fell to the Rams 29-22 in their opener. Defensively LAC held LAR to only 232 yards. Backup quarterbacks Chase Daniels and Easton Stick saw action in the opener as they combined for 226 yards through the air with the run game generating 4.1 yards a carry. Justin Herbert and the Chargers starters unlikely to play with the joint practices this week. Prefer the Chargers quarterback rotation here. Play LA Chargers -3.
