Indianapolis Colts vs. Jacksonville Jaguars Pick Prediction 9/13/2020
Colts at Jaguars—NFL pick is Jacksonville Jaguars +8. Tough for a visiting team to play a road game in early September in the heat of Jacksonville. The expectations are low for the Jaguars. Gardner Minshow did throw for 21 touchdowns and six picks a season ago and he returns. Prefer to go against Phillip Rivers in a road favorite role. No preseason games for Rivers on his new team and some questions on pass protection. Rivers has been turnover prone during the final few seasons with the Chargers. Would be concerned about timing between Rivers and his new teammates in the passing game. But no preseason means there could be conditioning issues for a Colts defense playing in the heat and humidity in the second half. Would prefer to take the points. Jacksonville has won the past five at home to Indy. Play Jaguars +8.
Las Vegas Raiders vs. Carolina Panthers Pick Prediction 9/13/2020
Raiders at Panthers—NFL free pick is Las Vegas Raiders -3. Prefer the experience with the Raiders here. Jon Gruden is now in his third year and the team has quarterback Derek Carr and Josh Jacobs in the backfield. Speed was added to the receiving corps with Ruggs. Tough spot for first year Panthers head coach Matt Rhule to debut without the aid of a preseason to manage game situations. Add to that is Teddy Bridgewater a long time backup for other teams is now the starting quarterback. Rhule recruited his defensive coordinator from Baylor so that is another possible hurdle this early in the season without preseason. This was a bad Panthers defense a season ago that needs time to rebuild with inexperience in the secondary. Play Raiders -3.
New York Jets vs. Buffalo Bills Pick Prediction 9/13/2020
Jets at Bills—Free pick is New York Jets +6.5. After a horrible start with the injury to Sam Darnold the Jets showed promise in the second half of the season winning six of their final eight games. Defense showed well last year finishing seventh in the league. Bills were a team that struggled to get points on the scoreboard ranking 23rd in the year. Quarterback Josh Allen led the 26th ranked passing attack. Accuracy remains the issue at 58.8% last season. Bills do have a good home field advantage but there are no fans in the stands. Would prefer the divisional dog here. Play Jets +6.5.
