Ohio St vs. Indiana Pick Prediction 9/14/2019
Ohio St at Indiana—College football pick is Ohio St Buckeyes -14. Ohio St has pounded Indiana the past two seasons posting a win at home last year by 22 points and in 2019 it was a 49-21 road win. Must respect the performance by the Buckeyes beating a good Cincinnati team at home 42-0. Buckeyes have tremendous speed and like they did against FAU built up a big lead at the half up 28-0 on the Bearcats. Justin Fields was accurate in the win to Cincinnati hitting on 20 of 25 for 224 yards and two touchdowns. On the season the Buckeyes are completing 77.4% of their passes. Defensively Ohio St is experienced with nine starters back and are holding teams to only 1.9 yards per rush on an average of 33.5 carries per game. Running back JK Dobbins had a big first half with 141 yards rushing. Team is rushing for 5.4 yards a carry with Dobbins at 6.1 per attempt and a big play runner. Indiana faces a serious test after facing Ball St and Eastern Illinois to open the season. Ball St Cardinals did pile up 398 yards and 24 points on the Hoosiers defense as they passed for 298 yards. Cardinals were a four win team last year with a first year starter at quarterback. Play Ohio St -14.
Alabama vs. South Carolina Pick Prediction 9/14/2019
Alabama at South Carolina—College football free pick is Alabama Crimson Tide -25.5. South Carolina is without starting quarterback Jake Bentley who broke his foot in the season opener and out until October. They turn to freshman quarterback Ryan Hilinski who made his debut in the Gamecocks home blowout of Charleston Southern. Offensively the Gamecocks did not impress in their loss to North Carolina in the opener with 270 yards and 3 of 12 on third down. They allowed the Tar Heels 483 yards offensively with 230 rushing for 4.6 yards per run. Alabama has pounded their two opponents in Duke and New Mexico St allowing a total of 13 points in those two games. Crimson Tide backup quarterback Mac Jones had a touchdown pass in the blowout win to New Mexico St and has seen action in the first two games this season. Crimson Tide has been on the road to open SEC play and it resulted in a 62-7 win at Ole Miss and 59-0 at Vanderbilt. So far this season the Crimson Tide carries a 73.9% completion rate. Play Alabama -25.5.
Arizona St vs. Michigan St Pick Prediction 9/14/2019
Arizona St at Michigan St—Free pick is Michigan St Spartans -12. This is a bad matchup for a young Arizona St team. Freshman quarterback Jayden Daniels look small as do many of the young playmakers for the Sun Devils. They all need more time in the weight room. This is a much different team that last year that saw the exit of their starting quarterback and star wide receiver. ASU faced a weak schedule playing FCS opponent Cal State Sacramento and Kent St a two team from last year. They averaged only 24.5 points per game in that contest. The offense has not look good with just a few big plays but not much rhythm and consistency. They were 5 of 17 on third down against Sacramento St and ran for only 3.7 yards per carry on 46 rushes in the opener at home to Kent St in temperatures near 100 degrees. Now the Sun Devils face one of the nations best defenses in Michigan St on the road. Spartans have allowed only 80 yards to the Tulsa offense in Week 1 and -73 rushing yards. They faced a MAC squad in Western Michigan and came away with a 51-17 win piling up 31 first half points. This is an experienced Michigan St team with nine starters returned on offense and eight to the defense. Senior quarterback Brian Lewerke is healthy and all five are back on the offensive line. Play Michigan St -12.
Clemson vs. Syracuse Pick Prediction 9/14/2019
Clemson vs. Syracuse—College football pick is Clemson Tigers -26. Clemson puts in another strong defensive performance as they beat a good Texas A&M team last week 24-10. They held the Aggies to just three points until they allowed a touchdown with six seconds remaining. Now they faced a Syracuse team that was lit up giving up 63 points and 650 yards. Terrapins ran for 354 yards and 7.9 yards per rush. This is a different Syracuse teams with inexperience on the offensive line and a quarterback in Tommy DeVito who has not impressed. Syracuse has struggled defensively under Dino Babers but now the offense has taken a step back thus far. After a lackluster performance in their win at Liberty the Orange were down 42-13 at the half last week. Tigers are averaging 510 yards of offense this season and will be able to generate the points and play the defense to cover this huge number. Orange has turned the ball over five times in two games with three interceptions by Devito. Clemson has had some trouble with Syracuse the past two seasons but that was with Eric Dungy at quarterback. Play Clemson -26.
USC vs. BYU Pick Prediction 9/14/2019
USC at BYU—College football free pick is USC Trojans -4.5. USC flashed their Air Raid offense to perfection in their 45-20 win to Stanford. Freshman quarterback Kedon Slovis looked comfortable in the Graham Harrell offense by completing 28 of 333 for 377 yards and three touchdowns. Trojans receivers are shining in their offense with good yardage after the catch. BYU has lost four straight against the PAC 12 including a 30-12 win at Stanford in their opener. They needed overtime to beat a down Tennessee last week on the road. Trojans defense has played well getting off the field on third down and holding opponents to 21.5 points per game while putting up 38 a contest. Trojans have the speed advantage like we saw in their win to Stanford. Cougars will have issues defending this speed as the ball is thrown quickly in this offense and the offensive linemen don’t have to hold their blocks too long. BYU will have trouble matching the Trojans scoring here. Play USC -4.5.
Iowa vs. Iowa St Pick Prediction 9/14/2019
Iowa vs. Iowa St—Free pick is Iowa St Cyclones -1. Cyclones coming off a bye week pointing to Iowa after getting past FCS school Northern Iowa in Week 1 in a look ahead spot. This is a talented Cyclones team returning eight starters each on both sides of the football. Look for a bump in production for sophompre quarterback David Purdy. In the win against Northern Iowa he completed 30 of 41 passes for 278 yards and two touchdowns. What has improved under Matt Campbell at head coach is the Cyclones defense as they held teams to 21 points per game in 2017 and 22 points a season ago. This is an inexperienced Iowa team with six starters returned on offense and four to the defense. They were not tested much beating Miami Ohio and Rutgers at home. Now this inexperienced Hawkeyes team plays their first road game and it is in a hostile environment. All four starters on the Iowa defensive line are first year starters. Play Iowa St -1.
Texas Tech vs. Arizona Pick Prediction 9/14/2019
Texas Tech vs. Arizona—College football pick is Texas Tech Red Raiders and Arizona Wildcats to play over the total of 73 points. Have been no fan of this Arizona Wildcats defense. They gave up 45 points in their loss at Hawaii to start the season then last week played poorly in the second half giving up 41 points to Northern Arizona in a 24 point victory. Wildcats are giving up 518 yards per game with 404 in the passing game on 65% completion rate. Alan Bowman returns under center for the Red Raiders in his second season as starter. Red Raiders are completing 70.3% of their passes this season for 350 yards facing UTEP and Middle Tennessee St. This is a Wildcats defense that allowed 373 passing yards to Northern Arizona. Granted they were up 51-13 at the half but still show that you can stop people. This Wildcats program has allowed 41 points or greater in four straight games dating back to last season. That includes and FCS school and a mid-major. Wildcats do have good offensive talent as the team has averaged 629 yards and 51.5 points per game. Looks like a very high scoring game that could really see a lot of second half points as well. Play Texas Tech and Arizona over the total of 73 points.
