Texans at Packers—NFL pick is Green Bay Packers -2 points. Green Bay has played well at home during the preseason. First year head coach Matt LaFleur makes his coaching debut and will look to establish a winning culture. Backup DeShone Kizer has NFL experience and will be relieved by second year quarterback Tim Boyle. Texans starter DeShaun Watson won’t see much action. A.J. McCarron was injured in practice. This leaves the team with only Joe Webb as a healthy backup who will likely play the whole game. Play Green Bay Packers -2.
LA Chargers vs. Arizona Cardinals Pick Prediction 8/8/2019
Chargers at Cardinals—NFL free pick is LA Chargers +2.5. Phillip Rivers won’t play but the Chargers do have depth at backup in Tyrod Taylor and Cardale Jones. LAC is focusing on the running back spot as there is a competition to get the reps with the first team with the hold out by Melvin Gordon. Backing up Kyler Murray are Brett Hundley and rookie Charles Kanoff from Princeton. Under Kingsbury I don’t see the Cardinals run game generating much with so much attention in the passing game. Broncos at Seahawks—Free pick is Seattle Seahawks -1. Prefer the Seattle quarterback rotation with Russell Wilson, Paxton Lynch and Geno Smith. They do have depth in the running back position. Seahawks try to win preseason games with Pete Carroll as head coach. Denver will be careful with Joe Flacco passing in this environment in Seattle in his first play in the preseason. Kevin Hogan and Drew Lock will see action as well. Denver offense didn’t look sharp in their Hall of Fame Game. Back to back road games for Denver this early in the preseason. Play Seattle -1.
