The New Mexico Lobos (3-7) and the Boise State Broncos (6-4) will collide in week 12 of the MWC college football battle at Albertson Stadium in Boise on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at 9:00 PM ET.

 

New Mexico earned their 7th defeat at the hands of Fresno State at 7-34 in their recent tour on November 13. The Lobos also lost to the UNLV Rebels following their 14-3 victory over Wyoming.

 

New Mexico is in the Mountain West Conference Mountain Division with a 1-5 conference and a 3-7 overall standing on the year. The New Mexico Lobos’ offense struggled after being scoreless in three-quarters of the match while their defense allowed 34 points to the Fresno State Bulldogs in their 7-34 loss.

 

The Lobos recorded 196 yards of total offense while giving away 397 to the Bulldogs and their passing defense allowed 300 yards to Fresno State.

 

However, New Mexico ruled the running game at 162 to 97 while finishing 46 total plays on 4.3 yards per play with only 7 first downs in the losing effort.

 

QB Isaiah Chavez was having a problem in his throws completing just 2 of his 7 passes for 34 yards but intercepted once in defeat.

 

On ground offense, RB Aaron Dumas led the running game after rushing for 143 yards on 23 carries and landed one touchdown while WR Trace Bruckler had one reception for 25 yards in the loss. DB Ronald Wilson led the Lobos’ defenders with 7 solos and 1 assisted tackle.

The Boise State Broncos will try to extend their 3-game winning streak versus New Mexico on Saturday. The Broncos defeated Colorado State (28-19), Fresno State (40-14), and Wyoming (23-13).

 

Boise State elevates to 3rd place in the Mountain West Conference Mountain Division with a 4-2 conference and a 6-4 overall standing this season.

 

The Broncos’ defense held the Cowboys scoreless in the 1st & 3rd quarters while their offense gained 23 points in their 10-point victory on November 12.

 

Boise State controlled both offenses at 225 to 156 passing yards and 160 to 132 rushing yards with 385 to 288 yards of total offense over Wyoming. The Broncos posted 22 first downs with 70 total plays on 5.5 yards per play.

 

QB Hank Bachmeier controlled the passing offense for 225 yards on 72% completion of his attempts and scored one touchdown. In leading the running game, RB George Holani rushed for 102 yards on 20 carries while WR Khalil Shakir led the receiving group with 8 grabs for 83 yards in the win.

 

LB Riley Whimpey augmented the defensive line for Boise State with 5 solos and 3 assisted tackles while DE Shane Irwin added 1 solo tackle and a sack in the winning effort.
