Denver fell to 1-4 after their 31-21 home defeat to the New York Jets. Broncos rushed for 139 yards for nearly seven yards per rush. They gave up 234 yards on the ground to New York with 173 passing on 26 attempts. Russell Wilson completed 20 of 31 passes for 196 yards and two touchdowns. He averaged 6.3 yards per pass and rushed for 49 yards. The Broncos committed three fumbles and forced two turnovers away from the Jets. Kansas City improved to 4-1 following their 27-20 road win at Minnesota Vikings. Chiefs rushed for 67 yards on 21 carries. They allowed 70 yards on the ground to the Vikings for 3.5 yards a carry along with 259 passing on 47 attempts. Patrick Mahomes hit 31 of 41 for 281 yards and two touchdowns. He averaged 6.9 yards per attempt. The past five meetings have been decided by one possession in four of those games. Even a down Broncos team from a year ago dropped both games by six points or fewer. The Broncos’ run game is rushing for 4.9 yards per carry with the Chiefs surrendering 4.3 per rush.
