UAB vs. Georgia Southern College Football Pick Prediction 9/9/2023
UAB at Georgia Southern 6PM ET—UAB is 1-0 on the year after their 35-6 home victory to FCS NC A&T. Trent Dilfer is in his first season as head coach for the Blazers. The team finished at 7-6 last year and returns three starters on offense with four to the defense. They put up 30 points and 438 yards per game in 2022. Defensively UAB held opponents to 23 points and 361 yards per game. The Blazers lost two of their top three running backs along with their top receiver. Quarterback Dylan Hopkins has left the program via transfer. Junior Jacob Zeno starts at quarterback. He is a transfer from Baylor. No starters returned to the offensive line with inexperience defensively on all three levels of defense. Georgia Southern is 1-0 following their 34-0 home victory to FCS Citadel. Clay Helton is back for his second season as head coach for the Eagles. They finished at 6-7 last year and returned nine starters to the offense with four on defense. Georgia Southern averaged 33 points and 466 yards per game in 2022. On defense they surrendered 31.6 points and 488 yards per game. Eagles allowed 5.5 yards per rush. Two of their top three running backs returned as did their top two receivers. Quarterback Kyle Vantrease exited the program. Tulsa transfer Davis Brin is the starter at quarterback. Four starters are back on the offensive line with four first year starters defensively in the secondary. Zeno saw limited action last year but tossed three interceptions in his 102 passing attempts and a 7.1 yards per pass attempt. He did play well at FAU and at home to UTSA and is a threat to run. Brin is not a mobile quarterback. In his past two seasons he threw for 35 touchdowns and 24 interceptions. Both teams are inexperienced on defense. Run defense the concern for the Eagles laying a touchdown here. Brin’s interception issues are also concerning. Play UAB +7.
North Texas vs. FIU College Football Pick Prediction 9/9/2023
North Texas at FIU 6:30PM ET—North Texas falls to 0-1 after their 58-21 home defeat to the California Golden Bears. Mean Green defense was torched for 669 yards with 357 rushing on 56 carries. They allowed 312 passing yards. North Texas gained only 225 yards with under two yards per rush. FIU is 1-1 after their 14-12 home victory to FCS Maine. They opened at Louisiana Tech and dropped a 22-17 road decision by giving up a late touchdown run. The Golden Panthers did have success running the football in that game with six yards per rush attempt. On defense they allowed 333 passing yards on 44 attempts. Quarterback Keyone Jenkins made his first start against Maine. Grayson James was benched after the opening loss to Maine as the team threw for four yards. North Texas quarterback Stone Earle completed 12 of 19 for 174 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions with 9.2 yards per pass attempt. Mean Green defense makes it too hard to lay over two touchdowns on the road. Looks like a quarterback upgrade to Jenkins for the Golden Panthers. Play FIU +12.5.
Cincinnati Bearcats vs. Pittsburgh Panthers College Football Pick Prediction 9/9/2023
Cincinnati at Pittsburgh 6:30PM ET—Cincinnati is 1-0 after their 66-13 home victory to FCS Eastern Kentucky. Scott Satterfield is in his first year as head coach for Cincinnati. The team finished at 9-4 last season and returned three starters on offense with six to the defense. They put up 29 points and 372 yards per game in 2022. On defense they limited foes to 20.6 points and 335 yards per game. Bearcats lose their top rusher from last year ago and all their impact receivers. Quarterback Ben Bryant has left the team. ASU transfer Emory Jones takes over as quarterback in his senior season. Two starters return to the offensive line with inexperience in all three levels of the defense. Pittsburgh is 1-0 on the year following their 45-7 home victory to FCS Wofford. Pat Narduzzi is in his ninth season as head coach for the Panthers. The team finished at 9-4 last season and returned seven starters on offense with five to the defense. Offensively the team put up 31 points and 406 yards per game. The defense held opponents to 24 points and 330 yards per game. Pittsburgh lost their top running back that produced 1469 yards on the ground. Three of their top four receivers are back. Quarterback Kedon Slovis exits the program. Boston college Phil Jurkovec is under center. Three starters returned to the offensive line with experience only at the linebacker position. Emory Jones mobility a plus. Jurkovic has been haunted with interceptions in his college career. Both defenses are inexperienced. Play Cincinnati +7.5.
Houston vs. Rice College Football Pick Prediction 9/9/2023
Houston at Rice 7PM ET—Houston is 1-0 after their 17-14 home victory to UTSA. Cougars run game generated less than three yards a carry. They allowed 208 rushing yards on 35 carries to the Roadrunners. Houston picked off three passes and limited the Roadrunners passing attack. Rice is 0-1 with their 37-10 road defeat to Texas. Owls offense produced only 176 yards with 27 rushing yards on 27 carries. On defense they allowed four yards per run with 300 passing yards on 36 attempts. Quarterback JT Daniels went 14 of 26 for 149 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions. Daniels put up decent numbers in his time with Georgia in 2020 and 2021. Houston quarterback Donovan Smith completed 22 of 34 for 233 yards and two touchdowns in victory. He is a Texas Tech transfer that played in 21 games the past two seasons. Owls have experience with eight returning on offense and seven on defense. Daniels has show good qualities in his college career. Play Rice +10.5.
UCF vs. Boise St College Football Pick Prediction 9/9/2023
UCF at Boise St 7PM ET—UCF is 1-0 after their 56-6 home victory to Kent. Knights beat the most inexperienced team in college football. Knights crushed the Golden Flashes defense for 723 yards with 389 rushing on 46 carries. They limited Kent to just 240 yards with under three yards a carry on the ground. Boise St is 0-1 after their 56-19 road defeat at Washington. Broncos defense was crushed by the Huskies passing attack for 490 yards on 42 attempts. They did allow four yards per rush. Boise St did produce 402 yards with nearly five yards per rush. Quarterback Taylen Green completed just 19 of 39 for 244 yards with a touchdown and pick. He did see work in 11 games in 2022 with 7.5 yards per pass attempt and completing 61.3% of his throws. UCF quarterback John Rhys Plumlee had a strong performance in the win against Kent. He is a running style quarterback who has been effective. Knights won last year’s performance in a huge second half comeback 36-31 gaining 573 yards. Boise St defense massive concern. Play UCF -3.5.
Oregon vs. Texas Tech College Football Pick Prediction 9/9/2023
Oregon at Texas Tech 7PM ET—Oregon is 1-0 after their 81-7 home victory to Portland St. Dan Lanning returns for his second season as head coach for Oregon. The team went 10-3 in 2022 and return eight starters on offense with eight on defense. They posted 39 points and 501 yards per game last year. On defense they surrendered 27 points and 381 yards per game. Their top four rushers returned along with three of their top four receivers. Starting quarterback Bo Nix is back. Three starters return to the offensive line with experience on all levels on defense. Texas Tech is 0-1 after their 35-33 road defeat to Wyoming in overtime. Red Raiders blew an early 17-0 lead after one quarter. The run game posted three yards per carry. On defense they allowed the Cowboys four yards per rush and only 149 passing yards on 34 attempts. Game was tied at 20-20 after four quarters. Quarterback Tyler Shough played well completing 31 of 47 for 338 yards with three touchdowns and an interception. He just needed some help from the running game. Shough ran the ball 72 time last season. Red Raiders have all 11 back on offense. Nix last year completed 72% with 8.8 yards per attempt and averaged 5.7 yards per rush. Looks like a lot of passing in this game. Ducks balance offensively points to some big plays on offense. Red Raiders lack of run game the concern here. Play Oregon -6.5.
Connecticut vs. Georgia St College Football Pick Prediction 9/9/2023
UCONN at Georgia St 7PM ET—Connecticut fell to 0-1 on the season after their 24-14 home defeat to NC State. Huskies had success running the football with 160 yards on 26 carries. On defense they limited the Aggies passing attack but allowed 209 rushing yards on 46 carries. Maine transfer Joseph Fagano hit just 14 of 26 for 113 yards and an interception. Georgia St is 1-0 following their 42-35 home victory to FCS Rhode Island. The Panthers allowed this FCS school 520 yards with 408 passing on 40 attempts. Shawn Elliot is in his seventh year as head coach with Georgia St. The team went 4-8 in 2022 and return seven starters on offense with five to the defense. The Panthers offense averaged 30 points and 417 yards per game last year. The defense surrendered 31 points and 399 yards per game. Georgia St has two of their top three rushers back along with five of their top six receivers. Quarterback Darren Grainger returned for his senior year. Three starters returned to the offensive line with inexperience on the defensive line and secondary defensively. More stability in the quarterback position for the Panthers. Last year Grainger averaged 8.2 yards per attempt and rushed for 734 yards for 4.5 yards per attempt. Play Georgia St -3.

Memphis at Arkansas St—Memphis is 1-0 this year with their 58-14 home victory to FCS Bethune Cookman. Ryan Silverfield returns for his fifth year as head coach of Memphis. The team went 7-6 last year and returned six starters on offense as well as on defense. They posted 35 points and 421 yards per game in 2022. On defense the Tigers surrendered 26 points and 363 yards per game. Memphis returned five of their top six rushers but lost their top four receivers. Quarterback Seth Henigan returned for his junior season. Three starters returned to the offensive line with inexperience defensively in the front seven. Arkansas St is 0-1 after their 73-0 road defeat to the Oklahoma Sooners. Red Wolves were down 45-0 at the half. They surrendered 642 yards to the Sooners with 422 passing on 33 attempts. Oklahoma ran for 220 yards on 49 carries. Red Wolves rushed for two yards per attempt. Quarterback J.T. Shrout was 12 of 26 for 148 yards. Shrout a transfer from Colorado that completed only 44.3% of his passes. Arkansas St lost half their starters this year. Quarterback position for the Red Wolves is not good. Henigan is experienced.
