Miami Ohio at Miami 7PM ET—Chuck Martin enters his tenth season as head coach for Miami Ohio. The Redhawks finished at 6-7 in 2022 and returned seven starters on offense with nine to the defense. The offense digressed last year by putting up 20.2 points and 306 yards per game.
Defensively they limited foes to 22.6 points and 373 yards per game. Miami O return their top two running backs and two of their top three receivers. Starting quarterback Brett Gabbert returns for his senior season. Three starters return to the offensive line with experience defensively in the front seven.
Mario Cristobal is back for his second year as head coach for Miami. Hurricanes were 5-7 last season and returned nine starters on offense with ten to the defense. The offense digressed in 2022 by putting up 23.6 points and 368 yards per game. Their defense held opponents to 26.8 points and 377 yards per game.
Two of the Hurricanes top three rushers return as do five of their top six receivers. Quarterback Tyler Van Dyke returns under center for his junior campaign. Four starters are back on the offensive line with experience on all three levels of defense. Gabbert in four games completed 64.3% of his passes last year with 7.1 yards per attempt.
Van Dyke has seen significant action for two seasons with the Hurricanes. He completed 63.2% of his passes in 2022 with 7.3 yards per attempt. Hurricanes have failed to cover ten of twelve. Like the experience behind the Redhawks. Play Miami Ohio +16.5.
Central Michigan vs. Michigan St College Football Pick Prediction 9/1/2023
Central Michigan at Michigan St 7PM ET—Jim McElwain is in his fifth year as head coach for Central Michigan. Chippewas were a disappointing 4-8 in 2022 and return four starters on offense with nine to the defense. They went backwards offensively last year by putting up 24.8 points and 367 yards per game.
On defense the Chippewas allowed 28 points and 375 yards per game. CMU return three of their top four running backs but lose six of their top seven receivers. Quarterback Daniel Richardson has exited the program. Sophomore quarterback Jase Bauer will start but splits snaps with Bert Emanuel.
Only two starters return to the offensive line with experience on all levels of defense. Mel Tucker is in his fourth season as head coach for Michigan St. Spartans finished at 5-7 in 2022 and return six starters on offense with seven to the defense. Their offense produced only 24.4 points and 353 yards per game.
On defense they held opponents to 27.4 points and 417 yards per game. The top running back returns but three of their top four receivers are gone. Starting quarterback Payton Thorne exits the program. Sophomore Noah Kim starts under center.
Four starters return to the offensive line with defensive experience in the linebacker position. Bauer worked in six games last year but had one touchdown and five interceptions. Emanuel is a running quarterback with 67 rushing attempts last year and eight passes thrown.
Kim in limited work in three games in 2022 completed 74% of his passes with three touchdowns and 9.2 yards per attempt. The total has moved down 6.5 points from the open. Kim’s passing and running is encouraging to help get this game over. Play Central Michigan and Michigan St over 45.
Louisville vs. Georgia Tech College Football Pick Prediction 9/1/2023
Louisville vs. Georgia Tech 7:30PM ET—Game played on a neutral field in Atlanta. Jeff Brohm is in his first season at Louisville as head coach. Cardinals finished at 8-5 in 2022 and return six starters on offense with seven to the defense. The team put up 27 points and 406 yards per game last year.
The defense improved by allowing 19.2 points and 330 yards per game. Louisville returns their top running back but loses four of their top five receivers. Quarterback Malik Cunningham is on a practice squad in the NFL. Purdue/Cal transfer Jack Plummer will start at quarterback.
Only two starters return to the offensive line with inexperience at the linebacker position on defense. Brent Key is in his second year as head coach for Georgia Tech. The Yellowjackets return five starters on offense with seven to the defense. The offense went backwards in 2022 by averaging 17.2 points and 325 yards per game.
On defense the team holds opponents to 28.4 points and 402 yards per game. Georgia Tech loses two of their top three rushers and their top three receivers. Quarterback Jeff Sims has left the program. Texas A&M transfer Haynes King will start at quarterback.
Four starters return to the offensive line with inexperience on defense at the linebacker position. Plummer spent time with Brohm in his freshman and sophomore season while at Purdue. His numbers were good at Purdue.
King struggled with Texas A&M last year by completing 55.6% of his throws for 6.5 yards per attempt and passing for seven touchdowns with six picks. King is mobile and a threat to run. Play Louisville and Georgia Tech over 48.5.

Stanford vs. Hawaii College Football Pick Prediction 9/1/2023
Stanford at Hawaii 11PM ET—Head coach Troy Taylor is in his first season at Stanford. Cardinal finished 2022 at 3-9 and return three starters on offense as well as defense. The team averaged 21.3 points and 362 yards per game last season. The defense surrendered 32.2 points and 434 yards per game.
Run defense has been horrid the past two seasons by allowing 5.7 per carry in 2021 and 6.1 last year. Stanford top four running backs return but returned only one of their top five receivers. Quarterback Tanner McKee is trying to make an NFL roster.
Sophomore Justin Lamson, Ahston Daniels and Ari Patu expected to see action at quarterback. Only one starter returns to the offensive line with inexperience in the back seven with only one starter back. Hawaii fell to 0-1 after their 35-28 road defeat at Vanderbilt.
With their point spread cover the Warriors have covered eight of nine games. Hawaii struggled on the ground with less than two yards per rush but had success in the passing game with 351 yards. The defense did limit the Commodores to 39 rushing yards on 26 carries.
Brayden Schager completed 77.1% of his passes with 10 yards per attempt in the opener at Vanderbilt. Lamson has seen no collegiate action. Daniels threw six passes last year. Patu has thrown 25 passes the past two seasons.
Worried that no one won the Cardinal quarterback job and all three listed as co-starters. Stanford lack of experience is concerning as well. Line move too great to take home dog. Warriors offense encouraging. Play Stanford and Hawaii over 55.5.
Army vs. UL Monroe College Football Pick Prediction 9/2/2023
Army at UL Monroe 7PM ET—Jeff Monken returns for his tenth season as head coach for Army. The Black Knights finished at 6-6 in 2022 and return nine starters on offense with eight to the defense. They put up 28.6 points and 366 yards on offense last year. Defensively the team held foes to 22.5 points and 359 yards per game.
Black Knights return two of their top three rushers along with their top two receivers. Bryson Daily returns for his junior season and will start at quarterback. The offensive line returns four starters with experience defensively in the back seven. Terry Bowden is back for his third season as head coach for UL Monroe.
The Warhawks finished at 4-8 last year and returned five on offense as well as the defense. Their top four rushers have left the program and two of their past three pass receivers are back. Senior quarterback Jiya Wright will be under center after serving as the backup last year.
Three starters return to the offensive line with inexperience in the front seven defensively. Daily played in four games last year rushing for 163 yards and two touchdowns and averaging 13.6 yards per attempt.
Wright in his college career completed 50% of his passes and is a threat to run with 3.8 yards per rush attempt. Warhawks lack of experience a concern here as was Wright’s accuracy at quarterback. Play Army -8.5.
West Virginia at Penn St College Football Pick Prediction 9/2/2023
West Virginia at Penn St 7:30PM ET—Neal Brown is back for his fifth season as head coach for West Virginia. The Mountaineers finished at 5-7 last year and returned six starters on offense with seven to the defense. The team produced 30.6 points and 399 yards per game in 2022 offensively.
The defense got worse by allowing 33 points and 412 yards per game. West Virginia returns three of their top four backs. Exiting the program are their top four receivers as well as starting quarterback J.T. Daniels. Garrett Greene will start at quarterback in his junior season after serving as the backup.
The offensive line returned all five starters with experience in the back seven. James Franklin is in his tenth year as head coach for Penn St. The team finished at 11-2 in 2022 and return eight starters on offense as well as on defense.
Nittany Lions offense produced 36 points and 434 yards per game last year. Their defense held foes to 18.2 points and 323 yards per game. Penn St returns their top two running backs but are without their top two receivers. Quarterback Sean Clifford has exited the program.
Drew Allar to start in his sophomore season after serving as the backup. Four starters are back on the offensive line with defensive experience in the back seven. Greene has played in 22 games for West Virginia the past three seasons. He has averaged over six yards per rush each season.
Allar saw work in ten games last year completing 58.3% of his passes for four touchdowns. Mountaineers defense the massive concern here with their poor tackling. Play West Virginia at Penn St over 50.
North Carolina vs. South Carolina College Football Pick Prediction 9/2/2023
North Carolina vs. South Carolina—Game to be played on a neutral field in Charlotte. Mack Brown returns for his fifth season at North Carolina. The team finished at 9-5 last season and returned nine starters on offense with eight to the defense.
UNC’s offense posted 34.4 points and 463 yards per game last season. Their defense allowed 30.8 points and 437 yards. The Tar Heels return all their running backs from a year ago but gone are their top two receivers. Quarterback Drake Maye returns after a solid season freshman.
The Tar Heels return four starters on the offensive line with an experienced front seven on defense. Shane Beamer is back for his third season as head coach for South Carolina. The team went 8-5 a year ago and returned six starters on offense with four to the defense.
Gamecocks’ offense posted 32 points and 379 yards per game last year. On defense they held opponents to 29 points and 405 yards per game. South Carolina loses their top two running backs and four of their top five receivers. Quarterback Spencer Rattler returns for his junior campaign.
Only two starters return on the offensive line with an inexperienced front seven on defense. May completed 66.2% of his passes for 4321 last year with 8.4 yards per pass attempt.
Rattler in his first season with the Gamecocks completed 66.2% of his throws for 7.6 yards per attempt. Not confident in either of these defenses to make consistent stops. Play North Carolina and South Carolina over 64.
