Lions at Panthers—Detroit is 1-1 in the preseason after their 25-7 home defeat to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Goff sat out the game. Teddy Bridgwater saw action and went 5 of 11 for 34 yards. Nate Sudfeld was 9 of 18 for 80 yards with a touchdown and interception.
Lions managed only nine first downs and they converted only 1 of 12 on third down. They produced a miserable 131 yards offensively and allowed 399 to the Jaguars. No starters played on either sides. Backing up Jared Goff at quarterback are Teddy Bridgewater, Nate Sudfeld, Adrian Martinez and Hendon Hooker.
Carolina fell to 0-2 in the preseason after their 21-19 road defeat at New York Giants. Rookie Bryce Young saw action in two series going 3 of 6 for 35 yards and one sack. Matt Corral was 9 of 13 for 71 yards. Jake Luton was 2 of 7 for 41 yards and a touchdowns.
Panthers were down 21-3 at the half then outscored the Giants 16-0 in the second half. Carolina finished with only 235 yards and 4.8 yards per pass attempt. The7 combined 5 of 14 on third and fourth down. Starters saw action on both sides.
Bryce Young is QB1 for Carolina. The backups are Andy Dalton, Matt Corral and Jake Luton. Detroit will continue to rest starters this preseason. Carolina will play offensive starters for the development of Bryce Young. The rookie quarterback for the Panthers needs work. Not much experience for the Panthers backups. Play Detroit +4.5.

New England Patriots vs. Tennessee Titans NFL Betting Pick Prediction 8/25/2023
Patriots at Titans—New England improved to 1-1 after their 21-17 road win at Green Bay. Mac Jones made is preseason debut going 6 of 9 for 52 yards and two sacks. Bailey Zappe went 10 of 22 for 117 yards and a touchdown.
Patriots efficient in moving the chains combining 6 of 10 on third and fourth downs. They ran for 4.6 yards per attempt. Packers threw for 221 yards on the Patriots with 8.2 yards per pass attempt. Mac Jones is the number one quarterback in New England.
Backing up are Bailey Zappe, Trace McSorley and Malik Cunningham. Tennessee is 1-1 in the preseason following their 24-16 road win at Minnesota Vikings. The Titans outscored the Vikings 17-7 in the second half.
Malik Willis played the whole game, going 10 of 17 for 85 yards with a touchdown and pick. He had 11 rushing attempts for 91 yards. Titans rushed for 281 yards for seven yards per attempt and converted 7 of 13 on third down. They limited the Vikings to 3 of 14 combined on third and fourth down.
Vikings sat starters. Titans starters played in the first quarter. Ryan Tannehill is the starter for the Titans. His backup are Malik Willis and Kentucky rookie Will Levis. Tannehill could see limited action here as well as his backups.
There is a battle for the backup in New England. Cunningham did lead a touchdown drive late in the first game on the strength of his running. Play New England -2.
Los Angeles Chargers vs. San Francisco 49ers NFL Betting Pick Prediction 8/25/2023
Chargers at Panthers—Los Angeles fell to 1-1 after their 22-17 home defeat to the New Orleans Saints. Easton Stick played the entire game, going 21 of 41 for 233 yards and two interceptions. LA was only 3 of 15 on third down. The run game produced 5.5 yards per attempt.
On defense they did hold New Orleans to 5 of 17 on third down and 2.3 yards per rush attempt. Most starters sat on both sides. Justin Herbert is the starter when the regular season begins. The backup battle is between Easton Stick and TCU rookie Max Duggan.
San Francisco is 1-1 after their 21-20 home victory to the Denver Broncos. 49ers outscored the Broncos 18-14 in the second half. Trey Lance was 12 of 18 for 173 yards with a touchdown and a pick. Sam Darnold went 11 of 14 for 109 yards with a touchdown and interception.
Brock Purdy saw action going 4 of 5 for 65 yards. San Francisco piled up 422 yards with 323 passing for 8.1 yards per attempt. They did survive a -3 turnover margin. Defensively they allowed 165 rushing yards to the Broncos with 6.6 yards per attempt. Brock Purdy is the 49ers starter.
Backups are Sam Darnold and Brandon Allen. Trey Lance is on the roster but reported on the trading block and will not play. Chargers historically has rested starters in the preseason.
Brock Purdy and his starters will play on Friday night. Los Angeles roster appears set so there could be a lot of rookies auditioning on Friday night. Chargers will struggle to score. Play Los Angeles and San Francisco under 38.
