Houston Astros vs Cleveland Guardians  Predictions 6/9/2023

In the middle game of their three-game series on Wednesday night, Cleveland defeated the Red Sox to win for the third time in four games.

Despite having a 28-33 record and trailing the Twins by 2.5 games for first place in the AL Central heading into Thursday, the Guardians were in second place.

Amed Rosario (two runs, RBI) and Josh Naylor (run, RBI) each had three hits for Cleveland on Wednesday night to help the team’s 10-hit attack.

Tanner Bibee (2-1), who pitched five innings, earned the victory after giving up two runs (one earned) on four hits, two walks, and two strikeouts.

For his 20th save, Emmanuel Clase pitched the ninth inning, surrendering no runs or hits while walking only one and striking out two.

Rookie lefthander Logan Allen will start this game for the Guardians, marking his eighth of the year. He enters the game with a record of 3-2, a 2.76 ERA, a 1.336 WHIP, 13 walks, and 47 strikeouts in 45.2 innings of work.

In his most recent start, which took place on the road against the Twins on Saturday, Allen was successful.

He pitched six innings in a game that the Guardians eventually won 4-2, surrendering just two runs on seven hits, two walks, and four strikeouts.

Allen is 2-1 with a 2.37 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, five walks, and 18 strikeouts over 19 innings pitched over his previous three starts. He throws for the Astros for the first time in his eighth major league start.

Prior to being called up, Allen had three starts for Triple-A Columbus in the International League this year. In 14.1 innings of work, he had a recordless 1.26 ERA, a 1.047 WHIP, five walks, and 20 strikeouts.

  • The Cleveland Guardians are 5-0 in their last five matches against the spread.
  • The Cleveland Guardians are 18-14 in their road matches against the spread.
  • The totals went over in one of the Guardians’ last five matches.

Houston Astros vs. Cleveland Guardians. The MLB pick for this game is the Houston Astros. Pitchers who were fairly reliable this season will square off in this one.

Javier had some success pitching for Houston over the course of a few seasons, including a 4-1 record with a 2.20 ERA in 14 appearances, two of which were starts, during the postseason.

Even though they entered Thursday with two consecutive losses, the Astros appeared to settle in after a shaky start to the season.

For the Astros, staying healthy was crucial since Jose Altuve’s comeback provided a huge help. Allen won two straight starts for the Guardians, but he is still a rookie with no major league experience.

Cleveland’s difficulty scoring factors into the equation, and the hosts may have trouble. As long as they win the first game of this series, give the Astros the advantage. The Houston Astros will win by a predicted score of 6-3.
