The Nationwide Arena in Columbus will be the venue between the Buffalo Sabres and the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday night.

Jack Quinn led with two goals scored including a power-play goal scored in the 13:45 minute of the third period.

 

While the Sabres are striving to improve their standing, each of their key players is gaining good records for the season.

 

RW Tage Thompson is making noise in NHL after leading his team with 16 goals on 34 points after playing for just 25 games.

 

First-overall pick defenseman Rasmus Dahlin made a great start in the 2022-23 campaign while entering the Norris trophy contention after gaining 29 points through 24 matches played. Dahlin is just five points behind Erik Karlsson who topped all NHL defensemen in points this season.

 

The Buffalo Sabres declared Goaltender Eric Comrie indefinitely out of the league due to an injured knee while Defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin is out with a lower-body injury since December 4.

The Columbus Blue Jackets are on their way back home to get back from their last loss away from home by hosting the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday evening.

 

Columbus placed last at 8-13-12 in the Metropolitan Division with a 6-9-1 home record on the year. The Blue Jackets struggled after losing their last two matches and four of their last five following a 1-4 loss on the road to the Pittsburgh Penguins on December 6.

 

Columbus was held scoreless in the second and third periods of the match resulting in their 1-4 loss. LW Johnny Gaudreau scored the lone goal scored on an assist from Patrik Laine for the Blue Jackets in the match.   

 

Columbus left-wingman Johnny Gaudreau scored 9 goals in leading his team and was also a top setter for the Blue Jackets with 18 assists for 27 points on the season.

 

Center Boone Jenner also chipped in 9 goals scored with 9 assists on 18 points for a team-high 82 shots on goal for the year. The Columbus Blue Jackets totalled 61 goals and 109 assists to earn a total of 170 points.   

 

Columbus will be missing two key players for the rest of the season, NHL veteran RW Jakub Voracek is out indefinitely due to a Concussion while Defenseman Zach Werenski is out for the season due to a shoulder injury.

 

The Blue Jackets also have two centers and three defensemen on the injured list this season.
