After losing to Georgia Southern at home 45-42 despite being the heavy favorite, Scott Frost was dismissed on Sunday, so Nebraska will be led by a new coach for the contest.

In their 31-28 loss against Northwestern to open the season, the Cornhuskers were 12-point favorites. They defeated North Dakota at home 38-17, although they failed to cover the -29 spread.

Under Frost, Nebraska had a 16-31 record, which was the second-worst mark in the Big Ten at the time. Mickey Joseph, an associate head coach, was appointed to take over for the remainder of the year.

Casey Thompson threw three interceptions in addition to completing 63.9% of his passes for 866 yards and three touchdowns.
