Washington had another poor season, so its modest bit of success over the last week was welcomed. Last weekend, the Nationals won three in a row in Cincinnati before being swept by Miami earlier this week. They responded well, scoring a lot of runs in a couple of victories over Milwaukee.

Washington is still in last place in the NL East, behind New York by 17 matches in the standings. The Nationals are a strong offensive club all season, ranking second in the majors with a.258 batting average.

Josh Bell, the Nationals’ first baseman, tops the team with 67 hits and 34 RBIs, while Cesar Hernandez has 65 hits. Juan Soto, the team’s right fielder, hit a team-high 12 home runs.

Washington is yet to choose its starting pitcher for this game, but rookie pitcher Evan Lee is expected to take the mound. Lee is anticipated to go into the bullpen and pitch after Washington demoted Joan Adon to Triple-A Rochester on Wednesday, according to Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com.

After pitching 1.2 scoreless innings in relief on Tuesday, Lee will be ready after a four-day layoff.
