Although the Orioles‘ pitching played far better than anybody expected in the first week, with Jordan Lyles and the bullpen completely shutting down the Yankees on Friday, the year is likely to be another long one in Baltimore as the major reconstruction continues.

On an RBI single in the seventh inning, Jorge Mateo knotted the game at one, then Ramon Urias drew a bases-loaded walk against Aroldis Chapman in the 11th inning to give the Orioles the victory.

In 5.1 innings, Lyles gave up just one run on 6 hits and 2 walks while striking out four batters. Joey Krehbiel pitched a scoreless 11th inning in relief, stranding the extra runner. Baltimore’s sole multi-hit game included a double and 2 runs scored by Austin Hays.
