New Jersey at Arizona NHL Pick Prediction 4/12/2022

Devils: New Jersey owns the fewest road-ice wins (9) of any National League team.

Coyotes: Arizona owns the fewest home-ice wins (10) of any National League team.

Devils: The road wins include such “power”: clubs like: Tampa Bay, Pittsburgh (twice!), Dallas and Srt. Louis, but I haven’t seen any NHL team go 82-0 of late.

Coyotes: The home wins include opponents in terrible scheduling situations like: Colorado, Vegas, Toronto and Dallas. It’s late and the blind squirrel finds an acorn joke.

Devils: They enter on a 1-4-1 SU “team” (1-5 ATS), with the win coming last time out in Dallas — can NJD win two streak away from The Rock?

Coyotes: They enter on a 1-4 “tear” with the one win coming in overtime against Chicago.

Not a top-notch resume.

Prediction: If you’re ready to deal with your gambling addiction, or are ready to solve whatever childhood trauma you suffered which led you to gambling, first third fist: Do Not Wager on this game between two Awful Teams… Don’t PASS, you should DOUBLE-PASS!

Ottawa at Detroit NHL Pick Prediction 4/12/2022

Senators: These are good, positive reasons to wager on Ottawa, e.g., they’re one of the few bottom-level teams still playing for jobs for next season and don’t want to end the season in a puddle of shame and total embarrassment.

The Senators just posted a three-game win streak (including Detroit), but then dropped three straight — but look at the results.

The Sens were strong in s 1-goal loss to Nashville, fell to the Rangers, then barely lost in a national (Canada) TV game to Winnipeg.

Ottawa could be, perhaps, the top-of-the-bottom teams in the Eastern Conference. And an opportunity to pass Buffalo and Detroit seems to be enticing.

Red Wings: Once upon, Detroit was one game above “hockey .500” at 23-22-6 thanks to a post-Valentine’s Day win over the NY Rangers.

SInce then, the arrow hit the heart of the Red Wings, 5-12-4 SU (5-16 ATS), partially triggered by an 11-2 loss to Pittsburgh (as we gave out as a Superior player of the week).

However, the past week shows a 2-0-1 SI mark with wins over Detroit and Winnipeg, so the youngsters are showing some fight for future jobs.

The Over is 9-3-1 in L13, including 6-1 inn L7.

Prediction: I am not playing this game, but if I did, my preference is because I like the goaltending of Ottawa, especially with the return of Matt Murray. Check the goalies before wagering on the… SENATORS.

Seattle at Calgary NHL Pick Prediction 4/12/2022

Kraken: Thank you to my readers. Tips of when (and when not) to bet on the Kraken has reached more than $200 (mostly in $20’s).

I have a “friend” who takes action in a New England bar, and he loves taking my action. It seems I am the only ” idiot” who ever wagers on Seattle, but, when I win, he wins, too!

But one must be cautious when picking Seattle, and this is not one of those special occasions.

Flames: Calgary is still attempting to finalize its playoff lines due to recent injuries, and a lot of the “shaky ” play in goal is more due to poor defense — this Flames squad may be the poorest division champion to enter the playoffs since the strike/lockout of 2005.

In this situation, I trust Calgary coach Daryl Sutter, who has a long resume of fixing things or tweaking a roster to get the best effort.

Prediction: A Seattle look-ahead to Winnipeg would’ve been my play, but the weather report in Manitoba calls for the worst blizzard “in decades,” with winds blowing from 70-to-90 miles per hour, plus 20-30 cn. in snow.

If the forecast stays, Seattle might know in advance of the Calgary game that they will remain in Alberta for at least one extra night or two. Thus, strong efforts by both sides means an… UNDER.(not the strongest of plays).

Los Angeles at Chicago NHL Pick Prediction 4/12/2022

Kings: Name the last team Chicago has defeated this season? The Kings — almost three weeks ago!

Los Angeles has been busy of late and actually have fewer games remaining than Vegas. But they’re still in contention, the last team skate had one person wearing a red (non-contact) jersey, and they want revenge.

Blackhawks: Ever since Chicago nipped the Kings in a shootout, they have seven straight (0-6-1 SU), with a goals for/against of 17-31 and suffering two shutouts — one at home against Seattle!

In the season’s second half, Chicago is a horrible 3-12-3 SU ((3-16 ATS) at home.

Prediction: Kings playing well, need a win, while Chicago is got nowhere to go except the golf course… KINGS (consider the Puck Line). Nice Prop: Whether the L.A. goalie is Cal Peterson or Johnathan Quick, play the goalie to post a shutout at +900 for pizza money (cheese not sausage).

Philadelphia at Washington NHL Pick Prediction 4/12/2022

Flyers: In the head-to-head series, Philadelphia’s two wins came easy Unders,

Capitals: In Washington’s win, it was an easy Over.

This is D.C.’s final homer before playing five on the road, starting in Toronto.

Winning isn’t a clear concern at this time. Instead, the Caps’ focus is on Alex Ovecnhkin’s race to 50 goals — the “Great 8 ” currently had 45, and Philly is a right type of opponent to register a hat trick.

Prediction: Neither side is interesting, there is len to the Over, but Props hold much interest,

Take Ovechkin to attempt take more than 3.5 shots (we won on this prop last time out) at Even, while “O” scoring is +120,

St. Louis at Boston NHL Pick Prediction 4/12/2022

Blue: Remember the 2021 Super Bowl when Tom Brady led his Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the title in their own ballpark.

It was recommended that instead of wagering Yampa on the money line, but on Brady to be MVP at a higher line.

The same thing happened when the Blues defeated the Bruins for the Stanley Cup. Even though I took Boston in the final game, I issued a hedge bet of taking the Blues Ryan O’Reilly for the Conn Smythe Trophy as most outstanding player in the playoffs at +800.

Even though I lost to the Bruins, I still turned a profit because there was no one else on St. Louis worthy of the award (including rookie goalie Jordan Binnington).

I love profit.

Three years later, St. Louis is on the cusp (either way) of making the playoffs, while Boston has playoff position to play for.

The red-hot Blues are 7-0-1 Su (7-1 ATS) and going good. Although most of the win stretch was at home, they are also 4-1-1 in L6 on the road.

Bruins: Boston had won 6-of-7 SU/ATS, but since then have gone 1-2 SU/ATS. Plus, this is the start of a homestand, with no look-ahead in Ottawa.

Prediction: If it’s anything close to the 2019 SCF, tough, physical and low-scoring, take the UNDER.

Tampa Bay at Dallas NHL Pick Prediction 4/12/2022

Overview: The media is so concerned about the start of pro basketball’s postseason — notice I didn’t say playoff or play-in — the worldwide leader is missing this possible preview of the Stanley Cup Final.

Stars (H): Everyone points at division leaders Colorado and Calgary to capture the Western Conference, but why?

The current edition of the Avalanche, although highly talented, has unproven playoff success. Plus, they lean towards the offense while po season success is usually dictated by defense.

Meanwhile, the Flames are currently revamping their forward line because of injuries, while the goaltending has been an issue all season.

As long as Dallas remains in the playoff picture, they could gain a re-match in the final with TBL… so this game will be used to send a message.

Lightning: Tampa Bay is, duh, the two-time SD champion and has gone through all the issues of a young team developing into a possible, modern era, all time club should they capture a third straight championship.

Prediction: Both sides want to show that they can play in proper, postseason style. That means defense; that means bad ice in both rinks come June; that means an… UNDER.

Anaheim at Florida NHL Pick Prediction 4/12/2022

Panthers (H): No, I did not forget the Florida Panthers, which could be a great series against Tampa Bay with light travel which will keep both sides in game shape.

And that could well be a first-round series, with Boston just two points back in fourth place and ready to ready the Bolts.

Ducks: Anaheim recently went through an 11-game losing streak and traded away very specific players at the trade deadline to fill the needs of opposing rosters.

Prediction: Of course, Florida, but how? Anaheim is just gritty enough to stay close to make the Puck Line a poor choice. And laying -400 is not financially prudent, Just find 2-3 other clubs in the same situation and turn a 3-4 team round-robin ticket into +230-ish instead of a straight 4-team parlay +300.

San Jose at Nashville NHL Pick Prediction 4/12/2022

Overview: This is the perfect spot for a young Nashville roster, at -210 or more, to fall asleep and watch San Jose take a bite out of them.

There is little value playing on the Predators, but using history as a guide, an appropriate bet is on the Sharks — maybe earlier in the season, but not now.

Sharks: Does San Jose even care about finishing higher than Anaheim? I doubt it.

Predators: Now that St. Louis has pulled away and owns a 7-point cushion over Nashville for third place, its wild card or bust for the Preds.

Nashville owns the first wild card spot, one point better than Dallas, but now the games-in-hand card is virtually all gone, so Vegas may be back in contention.

Prediction: San Jose can’t score, while Nashville’s forwards are not that consistent, plus they want to put emphasis on

defense… the UNDER, who it’s not a decisive choice.

Carolina at NY Rangers NHL Pick Prediction 4/12/2022

Overview: Actually, I wouldn’t mind seeing the NY Rangers win this one, giving them a share of first place with Carolina in the Metro Division. The Rangers win could be the nudged they need to keep the position and hold home-ice over Carolinas in the playoffs.

Why? Because looking into the future, I do not see a scenario where the Canines would lose to the Blue Shirts, especially in the first game of a 7-game series.

And since NYR would probably be the Game 1 favorite at home, and maybe even the series, it looks to be to be a perfect plus-money wager on the Canes.

Hurricanes: Of course, Carolina might want to send a message right now stating you don’t have a chance at Stanley Cup time.

And with NYR owning a 2-0 season-series lead — once in an Over, the other in a 2-0 shutout — the message may be more for themselves to a bunch of media-hyped youngsters wearing Blue Shirts.

Rangers: NYR is 7-2-1 SU (7-3 ATS) in L10 at MSG. The Over/Under is tied at 4-4-2.

Head coach Gerard Gallant coaches to win, and knows how to advance a team to the Stanley Cup Final. Plus, Kaapo Kakko and Kevin Rooney are both back from lengthy stints on the injury list.

Prediction: This is still Carolina’s division to win at -125, so the value pick is the Rangers. I will trend water and take the… UNDER.

Pittsburgh at NY Islanders NHL Pick Prediction 4/12/2022

Penguins: What a (bleeding!) coincidence: Veteran forward Evgeni Malkin will miss the-season, regular season games.

Doesn’t this seem to happen every season?

This time, Malkin got suspended for four games for a cheap shot cross-check on Nashville’s Mark Borowlecki. Malkin has played a full season since 2008-09, but it’s just weird that he “suddenly” pulls groin or gets a letter from the front office for being bad.

It’s just another indication on how the Penguins de-emphasize the end of the regular season unless absolutely necessary.

Islanders: Technically, Long Island still could advance to the playoffs, but need to gain 15 points over 21 combined games — really, really unlikely, especially with “loser points” available.

Prediction: The Pens (-125) just got their “re-focus” win, the Islanders are so desperate, they take too many chances, so take the… OVER. Also, the ISLES (_105) is an interesting side.

Buffalo at Toronto NHL Pick Prediction 4/12/2022

Overview: Buffalo makes its bi-annual, 100-mile trek around Niagara Falls to Toronto to meet the Maple Leafs.

Toronto is sitting comfortably in second place, 8 points behind Florida and 4in front of Tampa Bay for home-ice in the first round of the playoffs.

Buffalo’s strong second half finds them just three points behind Detroit for fifth place, which is no big deal unless you’re a fan of the Sabres.

Maple Leafs (H): .Auston Matthews needs one more point for 100, but a better goal is the desire of right wing Mitch Marner (90) to also reach the century mark.

The only question mark for the Leafs is the return date for No. 1 goalie Jack Campebll, who is (again) supposed to be removed from the injury this this morning.

Sabres (V): Take Buffalo’s top three scorers this season — C Tage Thompson (I58 points), LW Jeff Skinner (54) and D Rasmus Dahlin (44) — add up their points and you get 156, which last week bettered the franchise single season record for points By An Individual (148 by Pat LaFontaine in 1992-93).

Things change over three decades; talk about a lack of offense.

Prediction: Buffalo can get defensive and stay close, so avoid the Puck Line and play the MAPLE LEAFS into a3-4 team, round-robin parlay (not a straight parley)..

Edmonton at Minnesota NHL Pick Prediction 4/12/2022

Overview: These are the two second-place teams in the Western Conference, so a postseason meeting is doubtful unless both Colorado and Calgary fell in the second round.

Oilers; Edmonton lost the first two meetings in the season series, both on home ice, but is there really a need for revenge since the odds are well-against a postseason series.

The Oilers are 8-1-1 SU (8-2 ATS) in L10, with the losses coming against Calgary and in their last time out Colorado.

In the wild west contest for playoff positioning, at least for now, the Oilers control their own destiny for home-ice in the first round.

Wild: Minnesota now “fields’ the best tandem of goalie in the National League, but come playoff time, you can only play one at a time — there actually is a rule against the use of two goalies at once.

Goalies are also not allowed to skate over the red line unless going directly to the bench (look up the last Stanley Cup playoff season prior to the “Second Six:” expansion to learn why.)

When it comes to Minnesota, pick your poison: The Wild is 10-1-2 SU (10-3 ATS) in L13, or they earned just three points in the last three games, capped by a 6-3 win over Los Angeles after trailing 3-0 less than 8 minutes into the contest.

Prediction: Edmonton can’t help but to play up=tempo, high-scoring games because the defense is average, the goaltending is questionable and Minnesota keeps winning in any style of play of late. Take the… OVER, with a lean on the WILD at -140 in a non-contrary play.

Vegas at Vancouver NHL Pick Prediction 4/12/2022

Golden Knights: All of nay-sayers on southern Nevada sports-talk radio were stating the VGK was doomed with other clubs near them in the standings holding so many games-in-hand.

Well, do the math (before they do): most clubs have no more than one-game extra and the L.A. Kings have actually one additional game.

Thus, the “Media knows best” storyline that the “Go’Knights” have no chance is over, so this line of -140 is quite reasonable.

Canucks: The hard-chargin’ boys from Vancouver rest just two points behind Vegas, although VGK holds most tie=breakers.

They also need to overtake at least two clubs, probability three, not just one, meaning rising so quickly in the final 10 games is all-the-more difficult.

Still, this is a confidant lot with three straight wins and fours in four straight, including a 5-1 victory at Vegas. Plus, six of The Vanc’s final nine games are at home.

You can never say never until it’s never.

Prediction: When they met a week ago, Vegas scored first, then placed flatter than a waffle. VGK should have a experience needed, and since this is (for now) a non-playoff opponent, it’s either VEGAS or go home.
