Minnesota Golden Gophers vs Iowa Hawkeyes 11/13/2021 Picks Predictions Previews

The Minnesota Golden Gophers will meet with the #19 Iowa Hawkeyes in NCAAF action in Kinnick Stadium, Iowa City, IA, on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at 3:30 PM (EST). Minnesota had greater offensive success than Iowa, despite having a very bad offense and a strong defense.

With senior Tanner Morgan at the lead, the Gophers are generating 25.9 points and 361 yards per game. Morgan had a poor senior season, finishing just 60% of his attempts for 1,357 yards while throwing seven interceptions to only 6 touchdowns.

Minnesota would ordinarily depend on all-conference running back Mohamed Ibrahim, but due to his injury, they were forced to rely on sophomore Trey Potts, who is now also gone for the season. Potts had a good season, generating 5 yards per carry and rushing for 552 yards and 6 touchdowns.

They’ll now turn to Mar’keise Irving, who had over 100 yards rushing in victories over Northwestern and Maryland but only 26 yards against Illinois.

  • The University of Minnesota Golden Gophers is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 matches.
  • Minnesota is 0-5 ATS in their last 5 matches against the Iowa Hawkeyes.
  • The Golden Gophers are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 road matches.

Minnesota Golden Gophers vs Iowa Hawkeyes Predictions 11/13/2021

Iowa had an odd season as well, reaching #2 in the AP Poll following a 23-20 win over Penn State before dropping back-to-back matches to Purdue and Wisconsin. Iowa bounced back with a 17-12 victory over Northwestern, but the offensive woes that dogged this team all year continue to resurface.

Iowa’s offense is one of the weakest in the country, generating only 299.2 yards per game, the eighth-lowest in the NCAA, yet scoring 24.4 points per game. Alex Padilla stepped in for sophomore Spencer Petras, who was benched against Northwestern for a variety of reasons, including poor play and a chronic shoulder issue.

Padilla led the Hawkeyes on back-to-back scoring opportunities before the offense stagnated again; he completed the game 18/28 for 172 yards.

  • The University of Iowa Hawkeyes is 10-5 ATS in their last 15 matches.
  • The total went UNDER in 4 of Iowa’s last 5 games against Minnesota.
  • The Hawkeyes are 7-1 SU in their last 8 home matches.

Minnesota Golden Gophers vs #19 Iowa Hawkeyes. The NCAAF pick for this game is the #19 Iowa Hawkeyes. This had all the makings of a nasty, low-scoring Big Ten showdown. Both of these offenses showed little life and will have to rely on their defenses to win matches, as seen by the low total in this match.

Iowa had a surge of fire behind senior Alex Padilla, but it quickly disappeared as they only scored 3 points in the second half. Six points seem like a lot for the Hawkeyes’ attack to cover in a low-scoring game.

Iowa wins a low-scoring match, but I’m picking Minnesota to stay within six points and cover the spread. The #19 Iowa Hawkeyes will win but Minnesota will cover the ATS 21-17.
