Buccaneers at Panthers—NFL pick is Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Carolina Panthers to play under the total of 50 points. These teams have played to under in five of their past six head to head meetings. These are two division rivals who know each other very well. Short turnaround for both teams so the offenses may not be very sharp. Buccaneers generated only 295 yards of offense in their loss to the 49ers. Completion rate was poor at 55.6%. Bucs will focus on securing the football after committing four turnovers last week and with caution comes conservative play calls. Three Jameis Winston interceptions. Carolina is overly dependent on Christian McCaffrey as they lack depth at running back. He was involved in 19 rushes and 10 receptions and took a lot of hits in their game against the Rams. McCaffrey took part in every offensive play for Carolina gaining 206 of the 366 yards for the Panthers. There also were not a lot of deep throws by Cam Newton last week. Play Tampa Bay and Carolina under 50 points.
Arizona Cardinals vs. Baltimore Ravens Pick Prediction 9/15/2019
Cardinals at Ravens—NFL free pick is Arizona Cardinals +13.5 points. Cardinals to their credit made the adjustments at halftime to rally for the tie with the Detroit Lions in their opener. Cardinals did move the football for 387 yards with 275 passing. Defense was good on third down converting 13 of 18. The run game did generate 4.9 yards per run. Tough to gauge much of the Ravens win against a depleted Miami Dolphins team. Baltimore has not been good to bettors at home failing to cover six of seven. They do lose starting cornerback Jimmy Smith with a knee injury. This game can land, 13, 11 or even ten and you win no matter who wins. Play Arizona +13.5.
Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Redskins Pick Prediction 9/15/2019
Cowboys at Redskins—Free pick is Dallas Cowboys -4. Dallas has been very good against the NFC East going 11-2 straight up and to the spread in their past thirteen divisional games. They have won five of six against the Redskins. It was a dominating effort by the Cowboys in their 35-17 win at home to the Giants. They tallied 494 yards of offense on New York with 405 passing with 78.1% completion rate. Dak Prescott is playing for a huge payday at season’s end and 15.2 yards per completion. Ezekiel Elliot had only 13 carries in the opener. Washington fell at Philadelphia 32-27. Eagles at the half made adjustments, and outscored Washington 25-0 in the second half until the Redskins scored a touchdown with six seconds remaining. Cowboys defense got off the field on third down limiting New York to 2 of 11 on third down. Redskins defense surrendered 313 yards passing to Philadelphia with a 71.8% completion rate and 11 of 18 conversions on third down. Play Dallas Cowboys -4.
Indianapolis Colts vs. Tennessee Titans Pick Prediction 9/15/2019
Colts at Titans—NFL pick is Tennessee Titans -3. Tennessee has a very good defense. Now with the offensive contributing more this team can be dangerous. Titans come off a 43-13 road win at Cleveland behind 31 second half points. Marcus Mariota playing for a contract as a free agent next season completed 14 of 24 for 248 yards and three touchdowns. Derrick Henry ran for a 75 yard touchdown. Five sacks and three interceptions by a fierce Tennessee defense. That win came on the road. The Titans home stadium will be very loud. Colts having kicking problems with Adam Vinatieri missing key kicks. Titans have been money at home as a short favorite of three or less covering 26 of 38. Indianapolis dropped a 30-24 overtime decision to the Chargers on the road last week. Colts defense surrendered 435 yards with 310 passing and three touchdowns throws to the LAC offense. Indy defensively was not good on third down allowing the Chargers to covert 7 of 11 as well as six yards per run. Tough spot for the Colts on back to back road games. Play Tennessee Titans -3.
Seattle Seahawks vs. Pittsburgh Steelers Pick Prediction 9/15/2019
Seahawks at Steelers—NFL free pick is Pittsburgh Steelers -3.5. Steelers are going to be an angry team after taking a pounding at New England last week. Pittsburgh defense will be taking a step down in class facing this Seahawks offense. Steelers have talent on offense but faced a stronger defense with Patriots then they face Seattle. Pittsburgh is a very good red zone team at home and Seattle a team that gave up chunks of yards last year got off the field on third down and in the red zone. But in Pittsburgh you must favor the home team in these key situations. Seattle lost a couple of weapons offensively last season in wide receiver Dough Baldwin and running back Mike Davis. Was concerned about the lack of playmakers for Seattle entering the season. They got past Cincinnati in the opener 21-20. They had only 150 yards offensively through three quarters against the Bengals. Cincinnati was one of the worst defenses in the NFL last season. The run game produced only 72 yards on 25 carries with the Seahawks flagged 8 times for 55 yards. Cincinnati was able to throw the football for 395 yards with a 68.6% completion rate. Seattle has had slow starts in recent seasons as the team has failed to cover six of seven September games. Steelers get right at home. Play Pittsburgh Steelers -3.5.
San Francisco 49ers at Cincinnati Bengals Pick Prediction 9/15/2019
49ers at Bengals—Free pick is Cincinnati Bengals -1. Cincinnati represented themselves well in the opener losing by one at Seattle as a ten point underdog. Seattle sold out for the run so the team looked to Andy Dalton who completed 35 of 51 passes for 418 yards and two touchdowns. Bengals defense held their own limiting Seattle to 233 yards of offense, 4 of 12 on third down and only 150 yards in the first three quarters. San Francisco took a hit in their win at Tampa Bay as running back Tevin Coleman is out with an ankle sprain. In their win to the Buccaneers the team was aided by four turnovers by Tampa Bay. Team was only 5 of 13 on third down. Back to back road games for San Francisco but they will be practicing this week in Ohio. Play Cincinnati -1.
LA Chargers vs. Detroit Lions Pick Prediction 9/15/2019
Chargers at Lions—NFL pick LA Chargers -2.5. LA comes off a 30-24 home win to a talented Indianapolis Colts team. Chargers offense showed flash with 435 yards with Phillip Rivers hitting on 25 of 34 for 333 yards and three touchdowns. Team was 7 of 11 on third down. The run game did produce 125 yards on 21 carries. Detroit blows an 18 point lead in a 27-27 time to Arizona. Cardinals were utilizing a first year starting quarterback and head coach. Lions defense gave p 308 yards to Kyler Murray many of those yards in the second half comeback. Offense didn’t aid the Cardinals comeback converting only 6 of 18 on third down. Now this Lions defense faces a very good LA Chargers offense. LAC has been money on the road covering 12 of 16. In this spot as a short home underdog of three points or fewer the Lions have failed to cover four of five. Play LA Chargers -2.5.
Minnesota Vikings vs. Green Bay Packers Pick Prediction 9/15/2019
Vikings at Packers—NFL free pick Minnesota Vikings +3. Green Bay is 1-0 but the offense did not impress posting only 10 points and 213 yards offensively. Packers face a fierce Vikings defense that limited the Falcons to only 12 points in their sixteen point victory. Minnesota was extremely run heavy in the win with Kirk Cousins attempting only ten passes and the Vikings rushing the football 38 times. They built a big lead then milked the clock to victory Dalvin Cook rushed for 111 yards and two touchdowns. Minnesota did have success running despite the Falcons putting eight in the box. They held the Falcons to 2 of 8 on third down. Minnesota has covered five of their past seven against the Packers. Green Bay has failed to cover 9 of 13 against the NFC North. With run heavy approach if the Vikings need a big play then play action can work here. Play Minnesota Vikings +3.
New England Patriots vs. Miami Dolphins Pick Prediction 9/15/2019
Patriots at Dolphins—Free pick New England Patriots -18. Tough to make a case for the Miami Dolphins. This is a team coming off a 59-10 defeat at home to Baltimore while the Patriots pounded the Steelers at home 33-3. It is no secret than Miami has moved their veteran good players out of their system to work the draft system. They have acquired draft picks for their best players. That leaves a roster of reserves promoted into starting roles. Miami surrendered 643 yards to the Baltimore offense with 378 passing and six touchdowns. Ravens run game was working with 265 on the ground. New England is loaded with depth at the running back and tight end position. The Patriots defense has shown great improvement. Patriots held the Rams to three points in the Super Bowl and the Steelers three points in the season opener. New England posted 465 yards offensively with 366 passing with 14.6 yards per completed pass. Miami had only 200 yards offensively and went 3 of 10 on third down. Play New England -18.
Buffalo Bills vs. New York Giants Pick Prediction 9/15/2019
Bills at Giants—NFL pick Buffalo Bills -2. Must respect the Bills comeback win against the Jets as they got their offense going in the second half in their 17-16 win. Buffalo had a good defensive effort in the win holding New York to only 223 yards offensively. Josh Allen did complete 24 of 37 for 254 yards with a touchdown but two picks. They should be able to move the ball on a Giants defense that has struggled for many seasons. It was a 35-17 loss by the Giants at Dallas last week. New York surrendered 494 yards to the Dallas offense with 405 yards passing, 78.1% completion rate and four touchdowns. Giants are also dealing with injuries at the wide receiver position. There isn’t much talent for the Giants on defense and the depth is thin. Giants have failed to cover 11 of 15 at home. Team was 2 of 11 on third down not extending drives. Bills have covered six of nine in a favorite role. Play Buffalo Bills -2.
Philadelphia Eagles vs. Atlanta Falcons Pick Prediction 9/15/2019
Eagles at Falcons—NFL free pick is Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons to play over the total of 51 points. Atlanta is a different team at home. There were in a tough spot at Minnesota last week where the Vikings defense puts heavy pressure on the quarterback. Eagles are dealing with an injury to their starting defensive tackle. Eagles woke up in the second half of their opener posting 25 second half points in their win against Washington. They did pile up 436 yards on the Redskins defense with 313 passing and three touchdowns throws by Carson Wentz. Eagles moved the sticks converting 11 of 17 on third down. But Philadelphia defensively did allow 380 yards passing with 30 of 44 completions with three touchdowns to Case Keenum. Play Philadelphia and Atlanta to play over the total of 51 points.
Cleveland Browns vs. New York Jets Pick Prediction 9/16/2019
Browns at Jets—Free pick is Cleveland Browns -2.5. Browns look to bounce back after their embarrassing loss at home to Tennessee. This is a step down in class for Cleveland as they face the Jets defense here. New York blew a big fourth quarter lead getting outscored 14-0 in the fourth quarter to the Bills in their loss. New York had only one sack and allowed 254 yards passing to Josh Allen with 128 rushing yards. Jets offense generated only 223 yards with 7 of 17 on third down and this was at home. Baker Mayfield is a talented quarterback who met a fierce defense and struggled. He will have time to throw against the Jets defense and will put up good numbers with his weapons in the passing game. NYJ has failed to cover five straight at home. They did post a 21-17 home win last year to the Jets holding New York to only 268 yards. That was when Baker Mayfield came off the bench and led them to victory overcoming a fourteen point deficit. Play Cleveland Browns -2.5.
