NY Islanders at Dallas NHL Pick Prediction 4/5/2022
Isles: Long Island is a “horse for a course” team. When playing in Canada on fast ice, the totals often go Over. And when they are in poor-ice condition cities in the South, every game this season has gone Under except for a 5-1 loss at Florida in the second game of the season.
Look for the Islanders to play slow-down to control the tempo, a style they’re comfortable playing.
New York has won four straight, but this is a real road trip and not one of their NYC neighbors. Plus, the look-head is at Carolina.
Stars: Meanwhile, Dallas lives the zone-to-zone, boring style to rank among the National League leaders in fewest turnovers, especially at home.
In the first meeting at Belmont Park, a couple of neutral zone turnovers was the difference in a 4-2 NYI win. So there is the revenge element, too.
The Stars power lay unit is dreary, especially in their most recent loss in Seattle.
Dallas had won 6-of-7 before doing the Oops in Seattle. Look for a bounce-back performance.
Prediction: Dallas makes the most sense, but the juice is sky-high, even against NYI. Game style matters, so the more honest play is the… UNDER.
Carolina at Buffalo NHL Pick Prediction 4/5/2022
Hurricanes: Because Carolina has been in first place since opening day, the following might be hard to notice: the Canes are just 4-4-3 SU in L11 (4-7 ATS).
Part of it is simply resting players, some of it is to beat the playoff contenders and place the reserve goal in the net against the bottom-feeders… like Buffalo!
This is the first of a home-and-home set with the Sabres. As long as the Canes stay ahead of Florida for No. 1 overall in the Eastern Conference, could this be another overnight sleep-over with the girlfriends?
Sabres: With six games in L9 going beyond regulation time, Buffalo remains a youth team of hustle and desire.
The recent home-ice upset victims include: Nashville, Pittsburgh, Vegas and Toronto in the Sabres’ 6-2-3 SU stretch. Plu, 6-of-7 have gone Over the Total.
Carolina has played 10-of-15 at home, so restaurant cooking and hotel beds may seem different for the first time in more than a month.
Prediction: It doesn’t seem like the time for Carolina coach Rod Brind’amour to hit the “on” switch, so an upset selection of the SABRES seems reasonable. So does the OVER.
NY Rangers at New Jersey NHL Pick Prediction 4/5/2022
Rangers: In the middle of three games in four nights, including an on-deck battle with Pittsburgh, New York is expected to rest starting goalie Igor Shesterkin and utilizer Alexandar Georgiev against New Jersey.
Georgiev is both good and bad. He’s been a winner in 4-of-5, including a victory over the Carolina Hurricanes. On the flip side, except for the shutout over the Canes, he’s allowed 24 goals in his L8.
Still, Georgiev wibs games and New Jersey losses games, so the line is heavy with chalk toward NYR.
Devils: The defensive statistics for New Jersey are not just horrible, they’re getting worse. During their current 2-7-1 SU *(2-8 ATS) run, the Devils have allowed 50 goals! UGH!
The average score in the L10 is 8.40 (3.4-to-5.0), with no sign of the club showing any improvement.
Prediction: The Rangers have a look-ahead with the Penguins, so the Puck Line is not advisable. We prefer the… OVER, even at 6.5. Note: If the Total is posted at7.0, there are locations where you may buy half-a-puck, usually off-shore.
Toronto at Florida NHL Pick Prediction 4/5/2022
Maple Leafs: The daily flip-flop in the Atlantic Division now shows Toronto in third place, but not behind Tampa Bay. Say welcome to the Boston Bruins, a club we’ve been all over and predicted would ultimately remain runner-up to Florida and gain the home-ice advantage in the first round.
Thus, the Leafs must win in a critical “4-point” game with the division leaders.
The strange question for the Leafs how do you fall in the standings while holding the league’s current longest winning streak at five.
Panthers: Florida has won four straight, with this game slated as a party of sorts after a win in Buffalo where Jonathan Huberdeau, who set the franchise single-season points record last month, now is the new leader in total points.
Huberdeau needs three more to hit 100 and continue his quest to win the Hart Trophy (league MVP) over Canada media hype favorite Connor McDavid.
Prediction: Florida could be distracted and Toronto actually is playing well, although the return of Jack Campbell in goal was above-average at best. The value is to pick the road team, the… MAPLE LEAFS.
Boston at Detroit NHL Pick Prediction 4/5/2022
Bruins: Boston’s line at Columbus was -235. What will it be in Detroit? -Another -200?
We knew Columbus would be chippy and tried to pound the Bruins, but CBJ still lost in overtime against reserve goalie Jeremy Swayman.
However, should be back in the net, but is Boston too tired and in a back-o-back, thus, it can become a chance for the Red Wings to jump on them.
The Leads are 7-1 SU/ATS in L8, But it’s also a look-ahead, going to both Tampa Bay and Washington to cap the road trip.
Red Wings: Detroit has been scoring of late, but the wins are now coming of late. So which team is going to show up?
The Wings are 3-16 ATS in L19, so the gold season is approaching.
Prediction: The Total is only 6.0, so grab the OVER in the morning, then check to see if the line goes to 6.5 prior to face-off and buy some of it back.

Senators: In the battle between clubs located east of Constance Bay and the Ottawa River, the linemaker is telling you is the potential winner: the Senators at -116.

If nothing else, CBJ keeps proving to be a team to bet on in the third period.
This is the first of a home-and-home series. CBJ won the first meeting, 2-1,in Philly on Feb. 1.
Flyers: Ever since Philadelphia is on the verge of sinking into last place in the Metro Division, they have shown just enough pride to win just enough to avoid watching New Jersey overtake them.
The Flyers are 4-7 in L11, but most of that as on the road. At home, they are a reasonable 4-1-1 SU in L6.
Prediction: The linemaker is telling you the winner. As a favorite price of -125, it’s the… FLYERS.
Colorado at Pittsburgh NHL Pick Prediction 4/5/2022
Avalanche: Colorado is rising again, going 8-1-1 SU in L9.
This is the second of a home-ad-home, with the Avs winning 3-2 on Saturday.
Penguins: A game of this magnitude usually means the home favorites would go off at -115 or -120. But it’s higher than that, Why?
The Avs are not playing for anything; the Penguins are still attempting to catch the Rangers for second place and the home-ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs.
This is also the second game of a home-and-home series, with the Avas taking the first contest, 3-2, so there is the immediate revenge factor.
