Anaheim at Arizona NHL Pick Prediction 4/1/2022

Ducks: Entering last night’s late game in Southern California, Anaheim had lost 10 straight. UGH!

Now it’s 11 straight! Despite scoring in the final three minutes, the Ducks saw Dallas score early in overtime to win, as the Stars are now an incredible 10-1 in overtime (4-2 in shootouts)..

Coyotes: The only club in hockey without double-digit wins at home (9) this season is Arizona. UGH!

Worse: Centre Clayton Keller, the Coyotes’ runaway scoring leader, fractured his leg and is out for the season.

Prediction: Don’t do it. Don’t do it. Don’t do it! If you have ANY intention on wagering on this game, seek immediate counseling. No, seriously, contact the gambler’s hep-line IMMEDIATELY!

Personally, I’d prefer to take the expansion Seattle Kraken over both of this sides.

Vegas at Seattle NHL Pick Prediction 4/1/2022

Golden Knights: Vegas ended its 7-game road losing streak by wining the first of a 2-game set in Seattle.

How? Believe it or not, they moved forward Chandler Stephenson to the first line at center. He did nothing, until scoring the game-winning goal in overtime against Chicago in the comeback from a 3-0 deficit.

He did “nothing”? Well, according to BOTH VGK radio announcers, he did little

Meanwhile, regular first-line center Jack Eichel remains up front. Even though he is a center, he almost never takes face-offs (unless someone else gets kicked out of the circle). Interesting.

The remaining VGK schedule is reasonable except for one thing: everyone else in competition for wild card berths have games in-hand on the Knights. Thus, they can’t letdown in any look-ahead situation.

VGK is 3-0 against their expansion twin. They won the first game of the series, 3-0, as many of the skating-wounded are returning to form.

Kraken:  After scoring six times– the second-most in franchise history — against the L.A. Kings, Seattle was shutout by Vegas in the first game of a two-game series.

All things considered, suffering just a fourth shutout loss in 60-plus games as an expansion team isn’t too bad, as the Kraken is almost always good for at least two games per contest.

After selling many of the lub’s assets at the trade deadline newcomer Daniel Stroong has been a pleasant surprise in his four games. Strong has aided the power play and has been productive as a bottom-six forward.

Prediction: VGK has no major look-ahead for a week, and being in a true one-game-at-a-time mode, the play is the… GOLDEN KNIGHTS (but not on the Puck Line).

Ottawa at Detroit NHL Pick Prediction 4/1/2022

Senators: Stop reading the standings. It’s current form that’s more important, especially with Ottawa.

A completely unbeatable side going 4-15-1 SU (4-16 ATS) to open the season, the Senators are plus-money since then, going 19-23-5 SU (19-28 ATS). Sure, you’ll say that’s nine games under .500, but at +200 almost every night — do the math — that is a profit!

In Detroit, they remain an underdog (barely) at Even to Detroit’s -120.

Red Wings: Is Detroit the favorite simply because they are home at the Pizza Dome? Not good enough of a reason against the team that hasn’t given up.

Meanwhile, the Wings High & Holy embarrassment of a loss in in Pittsburgh, 11-1… the most goals allowed in the 21st Century by the Wilting Wings.

Now they play the first of a home-and-road with the Sens, then play them a third time a week later.

Nubers 4-11-1 SU (4-12 ATS) in L16.

Predictions: Take the motivated team at an excellent price… SABRES.

St. Louis at Edmonton NHL Pick Prediction 4/1/2022

Blues: At +120, oddsmakers are finally noting that the Blues are on a minor skid which could turn into a major cold streak.

Over the past month, St. Louis is only 5-6-3 SU (5-9 ATS) with just two quality wins — Washington and NY Rangers– over the past month. Otherwise, the Blues haven’t come close against quality programs.

Sure they just swept two straight from Vancouver — yawn, but the Blues now face a winning program.

Oilers: Edmonton is 8-2-1 SU (8-3) in L11, but now the real schedule with quality opponents are next, showing if the Oilers are a true contender.

After the Blues, they play 5-of-6 on the road, with the home game coming against first place Colorado. They barely survived a shootout with the Kings, so they better get their legs back soon.

Prediction: Neither of these sides are too exciting right now. The value play is the Blues at plus-money, but that’s not exciting either. Because of mistakes in the back — Edmonton blew a 2-goal,third-period lead to LA., just follow the trend and take the… OVER.

Nashville at Buffalo NHL Pick Prediction 4/1/2022

Predators: Nashville’s rise in the standings are attributed to two factors better goaltending and more physical play. And since the Sabres are still a little light in the hitting department, Nashville should control the puck, control the pace, and control the scoreboard.

Preds center Roman Josi is on a mini-tear, in search of the franchise single-season record of points. The captain is at 81, four short of the mark set by Paul Kariya* (84) in 2005-06.

Of course, he’s rather set the mark on home ice, so a couple of points here sets him up for a big home game on Apr. 5 against Minnesota.

Sabres: Like Ottawa, smart handicappers skip the season-long Buffalo stats and look at the past six weeks only: plus-money!.

Goalie Craig Anderson is playing well, going 2-1-2 since capturing his 200th career victory.

Prediction: If St. Louis goes with their back-up in goal, a sprinkle on this game going into overtime (a 60-minute draw at +310) may be worth a play — just like we did yesterday with Penguins-Wild. For the side, it depends on the goalie for St. Louis. If Jordan Binnington, look for extra help on defense and play the… UNDER.

NY Islanders at NY Rangers NHL Pick Prediction 4/1/2022

Isles With the exception of Los Angeles coach Todd McLellan, NYI coach Barry Trotz could be the coach of the year, as voted by the NHL broadcast teams.

Among the eight teams in the East expected to make the playoffs, the current eight are probably what everyone forecast.

But in the West, who had L.A.? Correct no one, thus McLellan for the Jack Adams Award.

However, Trotz had a near-impossible mission with the 13-game road trip to open the season, then the COVID attack when the new building was opened.

And now you get to play your neighborhood rivals to bump off and lower their playoff seed — real motivation!

Rangers: At -17-, the line is right based on the statistics and analytics, but is it a realistic wager?

Winners in 6-of-7, the loss was to non-playoff-bound New Jersey, which means NYR is capable of taking a night off in this situation.

Vezina Tropht candidate Igor Shesterkin got received a night odd against Detroit, so Alexandar Georgiev (a winner in four straight) won’t be needed.

Prediction The value play is obviously the Islanders, but the Blue Shorts are playing with so much confidence. Figuring that NYI comes out with a spark, the better play might be the… UNDER.

Chicago at Tampa Bay NHL Pick Prediction 4/1/2022

Blackhawks: Chicago just blew a 3-0 on national television at Vegas, then they blow a 4-0 lead on home ice to Buffalo — UGH!

For the program which always plays all 82 games hard no matter where they are in the standings, will Patrick Kane allow the Hawks to coast over the final month? Probably not, but is the rest of the roster even capable of staying with the Bolts?

Chicago is 2-4-2 SU (2-6 ATS) in L9 and sinking, capped by a 4-0 blanking from Florida in the first of back-to-backers in the Sunshine state.

Lightning. Tampa Bay took 7-of-8 from Chicago last season, the won 6-2 this season. Division rival Montreal is next, so the look-ahead isn’t a strong deterrent, so the -320 is reasonable.

Plus, the Lightning need a win to remains at least one point in front of Toronto — who they meet after the Montreal game — for the home-ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

Prediction: Based on the play of the Blackhawks of late, laying -120 on three Puck Line should not too much of a risk, even if backup goalie Brian Elliott mans the net… LIGHTNING on Puck Line.
