Notable Mid-Week Series:
Cardinals at Mets:
It’s a battle between division leaders. Mets bullpen fails to hold lead for Brian Harvey in Game 1 but the Mets win 2-1 in extra innings to open series. After a five game losing streak the Mets have won three straight.

Cardinals pitching staff was roughed up by the Detroit Tigers hitters over the weekend. Team has lost three of four.
Dodgers at Giants:
LA splits with the Rockies as the LA bullpen had issues protecting leads this week as it started with a loss to the Marlins on Wednesday.
Giants are two games over .500 and 4 ½ back of LA. San Francisco swept LA in three games in their first series at home. Giants come off a three game sweep of Cincinnati on the road last weekend.
Angels at Blue Jays:
Toronto wins a slugfest in Game 1 on Monday afternoon 10-6. Blue Jays sit in last in the AL East at 18-22 but just 4 ½ games back of the Yankees. Blue Jays top scoring team in MLB but can’t pitch.
Angels are 19-19 season to date. They have lost two straight after a five game win streak.
Notable Weekend Series:
Mets at Pirates:
We talked about the Mets already
Pittsburgh is 2 games under .500 and trails St Louis by 7 games. Their 3-0 win at the Cubs on Sunday broke a four game losing streak.
Cubs at Diamondbacks:
Cubs have made up some ground on St Louis as the team has won six of seven games to move to 21-16 and three back in the loss column. They swept the Mets in four straight at home in that span.
Diamondbacks five games under .500 and eight back of the Dodgers. They can put up runs but they give up a lot too. A team in transition with Tony LaRussa running things.
Padres at Dodgers:
We talked about Dodgers already
Padres slip under .500 at 19-20 and six back of the Dodgers. They have lost three straight as their pitching staff allows 24 runs in 3 games losing to Washington. The team is 25th in Team ERA at 4.43. They have improved at the plate from previous seasons.
Astros at Tigers:
The Astros at 25-14 hold a 5 ½ game lead over the second place Angels. Their one run home loss to Oakland on Monday broke a five game win streak. The team is 30th in batting average at .226 but 1st in homers at 57 season to date.
The Tigers in a battle with KC atop the AL Central division. They crushed the St Louis pitching staff over the weekend.
Rangers at Yankees:
The Yankees hold a 1 game lead over Tampa Bay in the AL East. They return home losers of five of six games as their bats are quieted by KC and the Rays.
The Rangers pitching staff have taken a beating the past week.
Angels at Red Sox:
We talked about the Angels already
The Red Sox lack of production on the mound and at the plate they must feel lucky to be just 3 ½ games back of the Yankees in the AL East.
Twins at White Sox:
Twins are a surprise at 21-17 season to date and contending in the AL Central. Despite shaky pitching numbers the team is hitting.
White Sox three games under .500. Good news is they got a good outing from Chris Sale on Monday in a 2-1 extra innings win at home to Cleveland. The win streak is now six games and they have won eight of nine.
Cardinals at Royals:
We talked about Cardinals already.
KC leads the AL Central by 1 ½ games over Detroit. They have won three of four games and sit near the top in major hitting categories this year. The Royals are fifth best in Team ERA at 3.38.
