Notable Mid-Week Series:
Rangers at Athletics—Rangers are slow out of the gate sitting at 1-4 entering Tuesday’s game with the Athletics. Bartolo Colon made the starting rotation. Team has struggled at the plate and on the mound. After losing three of four at home to Houston they drop a 3-1 road decision at Oakland Monday.
Oakland moved to 2-3 with the win after dropping three of four at home to the Angels. LA was able to belt the Athletics pitching staff.
Rockies at Padres—Rockies sit at 2-2 as they are at San Diego Tuesday. After dropping two of three at Arizona the Rockies win the opener at San Diego 7-4 Monday. Starting pitching a bit shaky to open the season. Colorado leads the major in homers at 10 playing four games on the road thus far.
San Diego is 0-4 after getting swept in a three game series at home to Milwaukee before their loss on Monday. Padres pitching has been torched the past three games.
Notable Weekend Series:
Mets at Nationals—Mets opened the season winning two of three at home to St Louis behind good pitching and hitting. The are tops in the majors in team batting at .306.
Nationals are off to a 4-0 start. They opened with a three game series sweep at Cincinnati and took the opener at Atlanta Monday 8-1. Tops in MLB averaging 7.25 runs per game.
Rays at Red Sox—Rays fell to 1-4 with an 11-4 defeat at New York Yankees. Bats were quiet in a three game series sweep at home to Boston scoring three runs total.
Boston has won four of five as they are in action at Miami tonight. After an opening day lost at Tampa the Red Sox had won four straight after their 7-3 win at the Marlins Monday. Pitching has been excellent thus far.
Orioles at Yankees—Orioles are 1-3 and on a three game losing streak at Houston on Tuesday. Offensive has struggled as the team has scored six runs in their first four games. They lost 6-1 at Houston Monday to open the series.
Yankees Didi Gregorious had two homers and eight RBIs on Tuesday in an 11-4 win at home to Tampa Bay to move to 3-2. They split four at Toronto to open the series.
Tigers at White Sox—Detroit fell to 1-4 with a 1-0 home loss to Kansas City on Tuesday afternoon. They were swept at home to Pittsburgh to open the season with three losses. Only one homer in five games.
White Sox won two at KC to open the season then dropped the opener at Toronto 4-2. They put up 18 runs in the two games at the Royals but it’s a big step up in class facing the Blue Jays.
Diamondbacks at Cardinals—Arizona sits atop the NL West at 3-1 entering play on Tuesday as the host the Dodgers. Two big rally’s got the Diamondbacks past the Dodgers 8-7 in extra innings on Monday. Bats have been hot as they have pushed across eight or more runs in three of four games.
Cardinals sit at 2-2 as they are in Milwaukee on Tuesday. They opened up this series beating the Brewers 8-4 and got off to a fast start on Tuesday.
Cubs at Brewers—Cubs were postponed due to weather on Tuesday. They are 2-3 after dropping the opener at Cincinnati 1-0 on Monday. They split a four game series at Miami to open the season. In their three losses they scored a total of one run as they have been shut out in back to back games with Marlins and Reds.
Milwaukee opened the season sweeping a three game series at San Diego. They come home and drop the opener to St Louis. They showed some offense in San Diego.
Athletics at Angels—
We talked Oakland already
Angels are 3-2 on the year. They win three of four at Oakland but dropped their home opener to Cleveland on Monday 6-0. Tyler Skaggs looked good in his opener. Garrett Richard couldn’t hold a 4-0 lead in his first start.
Dodgers at Giants—Dodgers after splitting a four game series at home to San Francisco blow two save opportunities in an 8-7 loss at Arizona to open the series.
San Francisco sits at 2-3 and on a three game losing streak after dropping their home opener at home to Seattle on Tuesday 6-4. Ty Blach gave up four runs in the first inning and the Giants could not make up that deficit. They had scored two runs total in their four games at LA.
