Notable Mid-Week Series:

Minnesota Twins vs. New York Yankees—Yankees have won three of four entering play on Tuesday. They have had good success over the years against the Twins. Yankees have been getting great pitching and hitting the past few games.

Twins have lost four straight on this road trip leading up to Tuesday. They fell behind early to the Yankees on Tuesday. Pitching staff has been torched the past few games.

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Philadelphia Phillies—Diamondbacks sit atop the NL West at 15-6. They began this series taking two of three at home to the Padres and Giants. Pitching staff has been excellent with starters ERA of 3.26 and relievers at 1.88.

Phillies has been a surprise of MLB sitting second in the NL East at 14-7. Philadelphia swept a four game home series to Pittsburgh to open this series. Phillies getting great work from their pitching staff with a Team ERA of 3.05.

New York Mets vs. St Louis Cardinals—Mets and Cardinals hold first place in their division entering Tuesday. New York is .500 over their past ten games. They are getting the most from their hits because the team does not hit at a high average.

Cardinals have gotten hit winners of eight of ten after sweeping Cincinnati over the weekend. Seven of those wins came against the Reds.

Notable Weekend Series:

Brewers vs. Cubs—Brewers are 14-9 as they meet KC on Tuesday. They have won six of seven facing the Reds and Marlins in back to back series. Now they battle the Royals.

Cubs are 10-9 as they battle Cleveland winners of three of four games. The team is hitting right handers and getting good production from their bullpen.

Diamondbacks at Nationals—We talked Diamondbacks already.

Washington has dropped four of five as they battle the Giants on Tuesday looking for run production. Still issues in their bullpen with ERA approaching six.

Rays at Red Sox—Rays after a horrible start have won four straight after sweeping the Twins at home in a three game win streak with the team scoring 26 runs.

Red Sox holds first place in the AL East at 17-4. They have lost two straight at Oakland as they opened this series with Toronto on Tuesday scoring one run total.

Mariners at Indians—Seattle sits at 11-10 as they dropped the first game of their series to the White Sox. Their pitching staff has been torched giving up seven runs or more in five of their past six games.

Cleveland is 12-8 and in first place in the AL Central facing the Cubs on Tuesday on a three game win streak. Indians have struggled at the plate with a team batting average of .214.

Athletics at Astros—Oakland is 12-11 on the year and getting offensive production. Athletics average 5.35 runs per game and hitting .271. They have won seven of their past eight games after opening their series with Texas on Monday winning 9-4.

Houston holds first place in the AL West at 16-8. Their six game win streak was snapped in a 2-0 home defeat to the Angels on Monday. They had averaged seven runs or greater in five straight heading into Monday.

Yankees at Angels—We talked Yankees already. Angels sit a ½ game back of Houston in the AL West at 15-8 entering Tuesday. They come off a 1-5 home stand but beat Houston 2-0 in the opener of their series on Monday. Bats have cooled off considerable the past week.

Dodgers at Giants—LA has moved over .500 to 11-10 on the season. They have won three straight and seven of eight games after a 2-1 home victory to Miami on Monday. Pitching has shown improvement during this run of victories.

Giants had been slumping until they took two of three in Anaheim against the Angels over the weekend. San Francisco beat Washington 4-2 in the opener of their series on Monday. Johnny Cueto returned to the rotation in sharp form.
