Notable Mid-week series:
Red Sox at Phillies:
The Red Sox have powerful bats as witnessed on opening day. Question will be about their starting rotation.
Phillies want to rebuild but there are still some old parts left.
Rangers at Athletics:
Yu Darvish injury big loss for Rangers. The Texas lineup is nearly no-hit by Sonny Gray in the opener.
Athletics moved a lot of their bats from opening day in 2014. Do you agree with the pundits who predict a regression in 2015?
Indians at Astros:
Astros have the look of a franchise that is taking strides to improve in 2015.
Indians failed to make postseason a year ago. What do you make out of the 2015 Indians?
Twins at Tigers:
Managerial change to Paul Molitor for the Twins. Team has lacked frontline pitching in recent years.
Tigers pitching staff was poached and can they recover?
Notable weekend series:
Red Sox at Yankees:
We talked about the Red Sox already.
Big concern about Tanakas’s performance on Monday. He seemed to be holding back a little and not throwing at maximum effort on his fastball.
Tigers at Indians:
We talked about both teams already. We should see David Price in this series for Detroit and Indians ace Corey Kluber. In their season debuts Price got run support and Kluber did not. 8 2/3rd shutout innings for Prcie throwing 101 pitches.
Cardinals at Reds:
Adam Wainwright was sharp against Cubs in the opener. Game is a weather postponement Tuesday against Cubs.
The question for the Reds is the production on their starting rotation after Johnny Cueto takes his turn. Leake, DeSciafani, Marquis and Iglesias round out the rotation.
Mets at Atlanta:
Mets get a good performance from Colon and the bullpen to down Nationals in the opener. Mets fans have some hope this year.
Braves make some noise moving out their closer Kimbell and huge contract with Upton to the Padres.
Royals at Angels:
Big scare on opening night as Yordano Ventura goes down but found out it was a thumb cramp. What’s the outlook for the Royals?
Angels had trouble with King Felix but so do many teams in baseball. Interesting to see how the loss of Howie Kendrick impacts the team. More has been expected from third baseman David Freese. C.J. Wilson is looking for a bounce back year.
Mariners at Athletics:
We talked about Oakland already.
Many like the Mariners chances for a division crown this year. Can Lloyd McClendon make the right moves with this team?
Giants at Padres:
Panda’s replacement Casey McGehee goes 2-3 in his Giants debut on Monday. If Pagan and Belt can stay healthy this offense can still do damage. Other than Bumgarner it’s an old starting pitching staff.
Matt Kemp in his Padres debut drives in three runs. Shields left with the lead in his opener and the bullpen blows it.
