Thursday October 23rd—
7:30PM ET— Miami at Virginia Tech (ESPN)
Miami -2 ½ with a total of 51 ½ points.
Miami 0-3 on the road with losses at Louisville, Nebraska and Georgia Tech. Freshman quarterback Brad Kaaya needs to limit his mistakes as he has six picks in the three road games. Two in each game.
Virginia Tech looks to rebounds off a loss at Pittsburgh last week where their run game was non-existent. The Hokies have won six of their past eight against Miami.
Friday October 24th—
10PM ET—Oregon at California (FOX 1)
Oregon -17 ½ points with a total of 77 points.
Oregon has covered three straight against Cal and have won the those meetings by no less than 28 points. Ducks have responded well off their home loss to Arizona with convincing wins against UCLA and Washington.
Cal has dropped two straight games but was very competitive last week in a 36-34 home defeat to UCLA. This is an improved Golden Bears team at 4-3 on the year.
Saturday October 25th—
12PM ET—Texas at Kansas St (ESPN)
Kansas St -10 points with a total of 49 points.
The Wildcats eke out a win at Oklahoma last week 31-30 as the Sooners have placekicking issues. They ran for 5 yards a carry on Oklahoma.
Texas broke a five game losing streak against Kansas St last year with a 10 point win. But Kansas St was in a rebuilding phase last season. Texas survived a scare at home to Iowa St winning 48-45 as a 10 ½ point favorite.
3:30PM ET—Mississippi St at Kentucky (CBS)
Mississippi St -13 ½ points with a total of 59 points.
Kentucky gets blown out 41-3 at LSU last week. They do have a 45-38 home win to South Carolina and enters play at 5-2 and are a perfect 5-0 at home.
Mississippi St a perfect 6-0 and have consecutive wins against LSU, Texas A&M and Auburn. A blemish on the Bulldogs is they are 124th in the nation against the pass by allowing 308 yards a game.
3:30PM ET—Michigan at Michigan St (ABC)
Michigan St -17 points with a total of 49 ½ points.
Michigan is 3-4 and 0-2 on the road this year. The Wolverines have been crushed by turnovers this year. They are coming off a bye after a five point home win to Penn St.
After a week two loss at Oregon the Spartans have five straight wins. Notable was a home 27-22 victory to Nebraska. On paper the Spartans defense is still dominating.
3:30PM ET—West Virginia at Oklahoma St (ESPN)
Oklahoma St -1 with a total of 63 ½ points.
West Virginia is 5-2 on the year as they pull off the home upset victory against Baylor 41-27 as a +8 ½ point underdog. Losses on the season game home to Oklahoma and a neutral loss by 10 to Alabama.
Oklahoma St returned home after back to back road games. They beat Kansas by seven and get crushed last week at TCU 42-9.
3:30PM ET—Oregon St at Stanford (ESPN2)
Stanford -13 points with a total of 44 points.
Stanford is 4-3 on the year with already two PAC 12 losses. Ironically the losses in conference have all come against South opponents and the Cardinal still controls their destiny for a PAC 12 North title and a bid into the PAC 12 title game. They come off a bad loss at Arizona St last year where the offense couldn’t do a lick against a bad defensive team.
Oregon St is 4-2 and has extra rest after a Thursday Night overtime home defeat to Utah. Beavers are beginning to show a more balanced attack the past few games. They ran the ball 46 times last week.
3:30PM ET—Texas Tech at TCU (FOX)
TCU -22 ½ points with a total of 70 ½ points.
No letdown off their emotional win at home to Baylor as the Horned Frogs put a 42-9 spanking on Oklahoma St at home last week. TCU’s new offense in 2014 has catapulted the team to 4th in the nation in scoring at 45.2 points a game.
Texas Tech is 3-4 and broke a four game losing streak by winning 34-21 at home to Kansas. Defense has been a major issue for the Red Raiders as they have allowed 35 or greater in five of seven contests.
7:15PM ET—Mississippi at LSU (ESPN)
Ole Miss -3 ½ points with a total of 44 points.
LSU is 6-2 on the year and have yet to enjoy a bye week yet. It’s hard to imagine that the Tigers would lose two night games in Death Valley. They crushed Kentucky at home last week 41-3 laying -11 ½ points.
Ole Miss is 7-0 and held Tennessee to just 191 offensive yards in a 34-3 home victory last week. The Rebels road wins came at Texas A&M by 15 points and at Vanderbilt by 38 points. The 20 points allowed at A&M was the most they allowed this season.
7:30PM ET—Alabama at Tennessee (ESPN2)
Alabama -17 points with a total of 47 ½ points.
It is tough for Tennessee to follow up a beat down by Ole Miss to face the Crimson Tide the next week.
The Crimson Tide impressive performance last week crushing Texas A&M at home 59-0. Alabama is in the same West division as Ole Miss so they need to pile up some points if they are a candidate for a playoff spot. The Rebels own the tiebreakers over Alabama.
7:30PM ET—South Carolina at Auburn (SEC)
Auburn -18 points with a total of 64 ½ points.
Already three conference losses by the Gamecocks as they have dropped games to Kentucky, Texas A&M and Missouri. The defense has gone south.
Auburn coming off a bye week after a 38-23 defeat at Mississippi St. They got in a 21-0 hole midway through the first period.
8PM ET—Ohio St at Penn St (ABC)
Ohio St -13 ½ points with a total of 51 ½ points.
Buckeyes have crushed their past four opponents putting over 50 points a game. Competition may have not been the greatest.
Penn St will be coming off a bye week. They have back to back losses to Northwestern and at Michigan. They have scored just 32 points total in three conference games.
10PM ET—USC at Utah (FOX 1)
The game is lined at pick with a total of 56 points.
Big Game here as it can go a long way into deciding the PAC 12 South title. Both teams have one loss against PAC 12 teams. Utah controls their destiny in the South. USC dropped a conference game to South division team Arizona St.
Utah enters play off back to back road wins against the PAC 12 with wins at UCLA and last week win in overtime at Oregon St.
USC will be challenged here facing a good running team in Utah on the road. Boston College ran all over the Trojans defense. The Trojans survived close calls on the road at Stanford and Arizona.
10:45PM ET—Arizona St at Washington (ESPN)
Arizona St on the road favorite by -3 ½ points with a total of 61 ½ points.
The Sun Devils recovered after a bad home loss to UCLA with a road win at USC and last week they beat Stanford 26-10 at home getting 3 ½ points. Quarterback Taylor Kelly has been listed as probable for Saturday.
Washington is 5-2 on the year but already has two PAC 12 north division losses at home to Stanford and last week they lose 45-20 at Oregon. In losses to Stanford and Oregon the offense sputtered.
