12PM ET—Missouri at Toledo (ESPN)

Missouri favored by -4 ½ points. This opened Missouri -6 on Sunday.
The Tigers had trouble with the Rockets in their meeting last year. There should be some concern over Missouri’s 38-18 home win to South Dakota St as the Tigers defense allowed 246 passing yards to an FCS school. Quarterback Maty Mauk had three touchdown passes.
Toledo is on the MAC conference favorites. Alabama transfer Phillip Ely threw for 337 yards last week in a home domination of FCS New Hampshire.

Stanford favored by -2 ½ points with a total of 51 points. Stanford had opened -3 on Sunday.
We saw USC up tempo offense under Sarkisian perform well in a home blowout win against Fresno St. Quarterback Cody Kessler looked good running it.
Stanford blew out UC Davis last week. They have a senior quarterback in Kevin Hogan returning this year. Let’s see how good Barry Sanders Jr. is. He had only five carries last year.

4:30PM ET—Mississippi at Vanderbilt (ESPN)
Mississippi favored by -20 points.
We talked about Bo Wallace’s tendencies to make mistakes. Last week against Boise St Wallace had three interceptions to go with his four touchdown passes. Ole Miss was solid a week ago beating the Broncos.
James Franklins exits the program and in their first game with Derek Mason as head coach the Commodores get upset at home to Temple 37-7. They could only run for 54 yards on 29 carries against the Temple defense.

Brady Hoke under tremendous pressure at Michigan. They crushed Appalachian St in week one. They have a tough road schedule traveling to Notre Dame, Rutgers, Michigan St and Ohio St.

BYU’s Taysom Hill gave Texas fits as the Cougars posted a 41-20 upset home win last year. Hill is back and in week one the Cougars go on the road and cover the double digit spread at UCONN.
Charlie Strong made his debut with Texas last week and behind a power run game blew out North Texas. Let’s see is this swagger and toughness can carry into week two. Starting quarterback David Ash is out with a concussion. Enter sophomore Tyrone Swoopes who saw mop up duty. Swoopes is a big guy 6’3” and 243 pounds. Good test for Texas defense as well.

8PM ET—Virginia Tech at Ohio St (ESPN)
Ohio St favored by -11 points.
Texas Tech transfer Michael Brewer in his debut last week with Virginia Tech was effective with his 30 throws but it came against an FCS opponent William & Mary. Brewer has a total of 9 offensive starters back from last year to work with. The Hokies front seven is inexperienced.
