Thursday January 1st
5PM ET–Oregon vs. Florida St (Rose Bowl Final Four Playoff) (ESPN)
Oregon -9 with a total of 71 ½ points.
Florida St is catching tons of points here coming off an undefeated 2013 season and 2014 undefeated regular season. Their past five games were decided by five points or less.
Oregon got revenge from a seven point home loss to Arizona with a 51-13 beat down of the Wildcats in the PAC 12 title game. Their defense got better as the season wore one.
8:30PM ET–Alabama vs. Ohio St (Sugar Bowl Final Four Playoff) (ESPN)
Alabama is favored by -9 points with a total of 58 ½ points.
Both teams suffered a single loss. We have seen a huge surge offensively from the Buckeyes as they have scored 42 points or greater in eight of their past ten games. They crushed Wisconsin 59-0 in the Big Ten title game.
Alabama has eight straight wins since a six point loss at Ole Miss. They faced one explosive offense in Auburn and gave up 44 points while scoring 55 of their own.
January 2nd 2015
12PM ET–Houston vs. Pittsburgh (Armed Forced Bowl) (ESPN)
Pittsburgh -3 with a total of 53 ½ points.
Houston fired their head coach following the regular season. They are a 7-5 team but the AAC conference was extremely weak this year. They have a notable four point road win at Memphis.
Pittsburgh needed wins at home to Syracuse and on the road at Miami 35-23 to become bowl eligble at 6-6. The defense played well but the Panthers were just 105th ranked passing team.
3:20PM ET–Iowa vs. Tennessee (Taxslayer Bowl) (ESPN)
Tennessee -3 ½ points with a total of 51 ½ points.
After three straight seasons outside of a bowl the Volunteers finally return to post regular season action with a 6-6 mark. They had to win three of their final four games to make one. Both sides of the ball were inconsistent.
Iowa finished off at 7-5 and a disappointing 4-4 in conference. They lost two straight all at home to Wisconsin and Nebraska. They had an ugly home loss to Iowa St early.
6:45PM ET–Kansas St vs. UCLA (Alamo Bowl) (ESPN)
UCLA -1 ½ points with a total of 59 points.
More was expected from this UCLA Bruins team as they are 9-3. They blew their shot at a PAC 12 title game berth by losing big to Stanford to close the regular season. Offensive line troubles prevented UCLA from flexing its muscles on offense.
Kansas St had an identical 9-3 record. They had troubled against the big boys losing to Auburn, TCU and Baylor.
10:15PM ET–Washington vs. Oklahoma St (Cactus Bowl)(ESPN)
Washington -6 points with a total of 56 ½ points.
The Huskies finished at 8-5 and had problems in step up games with losses to Arizona, UCLA, Arizona St, Oregon and Stanford. The team had trouble in pass defense ranking 123rd in the nation.
Oklahoma St just barely made a bowl game at 6-6 as they made a huge comeback in their Bedlam overtime victory against Oklahoma St. They went through some dry spells on offense and the defense didn’t play very well.
January 3rd 2015
12PM ET–East Carolina vs. Florida (Birmingham Bowl)(ESPN)
Florida -6 ½ points with a total of 56 points.
At 6-5 this is a bowl game Florida doesn’t want to be in. Keep an eye on the weather here as its played in Birmingham Alabama. Coaching turnover for Florida as the offensive couldn’t get it together. Florida still put up great defensive numbers.
East Carolina finished off at 8-4 after an ugly loss to Central Florida at home in their regular season finale. Quarterback Shane Carden leads the number three ranked passing game.
Sunday January 4th 2015
Toledo vs. Arkansas St (Go Daddy Bowl)(ESPN)
Toledo -4 points with a total of 67 points.
Toledo finished at 8-4 but a road loss to Northern Illinois by three kept them out of the MAC championship game. Well balanced attack on offense and the team put up 34 points a game.
Arkansas St finished the regular season at 7-5 and was one of three Sun Belt teams in a bowl game along with Louisiana Lafayette and South Alabama. The Red Wolves are a good offensive team putting up 36 points a game. Keep an eye on the weather as it’s played outdoors in Mobile Alabama.
