Tony and Mitch break down the big college basketball games this week from a Las Vegas point spread angle.
Wednesday February 14th—
7PM ET—Villanova at Providence (FOX 1)
Villanova -9
Villanova after a home upset to St Johns responded with a spread covering 86-75 home victory to Butler covering as a 10 point favorite. They shot 50% in the win against Butler. Team has gone over in six straight.
Providence has lost three of five after a 17 point home defeat to DePaul on Saturday. Friars relies on threes and they didn’t go in making 2 of 19. They did allow 60.4% shooting to DePaul.
7PM ET—Virginia Tech at Duke (ESPN 2)
Duke -10.5
Virginia Tech is 5-3 in their true road games comes off a one point overtime win at Virginia on Saturday as a 12 point underdog. Hokies have won two straight and five of six. They held Virginia to 33% shooting.
Duke broke a two game losing streak with an 11 point win at Georgia Tech on Sunday covering as a -8.5 favorite. In their past two defeats the Blue Devils allowed 81 at St Johns and 82 at North Carolina.
9PM ET—Kentucky at Auburn (ESPN)
Auburn -8.5
Kentucky sits at 6-6 in the SEC. They have lost three straight since an 11 point loss at Texas A&M on Saturday. Wildcats have recent struggles from the field.
Auburn rebounded from a one point loss to Texas A&M at home by beating Georgia on the road 78-61 as a three point favorite. Prior to that Texas A&M loss the Tigers have beaten four straight SEC opponents at home by double digits.
Thursday February 15th
7PM ET—Cincinnati at Houston (CBS Sports Network)
Cincinnati -4
Cincinnati is 12-0 in conference as they come off a 76-51 road win at an injury plagued SMU team as a -7.5 favorite. They have won nine of their past ten games by double digits.
Houston sits at 9-3 in the AAC. They have won three straight since a ten point defeat at Cincinnati in their first meetings. Cougars other AAC losses came at Tulane and Wichita St. Cougars are eighth in college basketball in defensive field goal percentage allowing 39.25.
9PM ET—Arizona at Arizona St (ESPN)
Arizona St -2
Wildcats split their two games last week at home with an eight point loss to UCLA and beating USC by 14. They have a recent three point road defeat at Washington.
Arizona St beat UCLA and USC at home last week. Sun Devils come off an 88-79 victory to UCLA as a -5 favorite. Arizona won the first meeting 84-78 at home as a six point favorite.
9PM ET—Oregon at USC (ESPN 2)
USC -6
Oregon is 17-9 overall and 8-5 in the PAC 12. They crushed the Washington schools at home last week by beating the Cougars by 27 and the Huskies by 25. In their last road game Oregon was crushed by Stanford 96-61.
USC is 17-9 overall and 8-5 in conference. Trojans are on a three game losing streak losing to Arizona St and Arizona last week on the road. They blew a late lead to the Sun Devils. The losing streak is now three games as it began with a three point loss at UCLA.
Friday February 16th
Rhode Island at St Bonaventure (ESPN 2)
Rhode Island -1
Rhode Island remains undefeated in conference at 12-0. Rams are in action tonight hosting Richmond Spiders as a -13.5 favorite. Prior to this game the Rams crushed Davidson at home 72-59 as a -5.5 favorite.
St Bonaventure is 9-4 in the A10 as they beat LaSalle on the road tonight 79-68 covering as a one point favorite. Bonnies lost their first meeting with Rhode Island on the road 87-73 as a 7.5 underdog.
9PM ET—Northern Kentucky at Wright St (ESPN U)
Northern Kentucky -1
The Horizon League on Friday features a good one. Northern Kentucky 12-2 first in Horizon and Wright St 11-3 in second.
Norse has won five straight after a six point home win to Green Bay but not covering as a -16.5 favorite. Northern Kentucky 3-6-1 ATS in their past ten.
Wright St looks to rebound after a one point home loss to Milwaukee on Saturday as a -7 point favorite. Milwaukee beat them twice this season.
Saturday February 17th
12PM ET—Texas at Oklahoma (ESPN)
Oklahoma -5
Texas is 5-8 in conference after a one point home overtime defeat to Baylor on Monday. Longhorns have lost three straight and most likely will need to win the Big 12 tournament to get into the dance.
Oklahoma returns home after back to back road games. It is now a four game losing streak for the Sooners after their loss at Texas Tech on Tuesday by 10 failing to cover.
12PM ET—Providence at Butler (FOX)
Butler -9
We talked Providence already
Butler fell to 7-7 in the Big East with a four point home road defeat to Georgetown as a -11.5 favorite. It is now a three game losing streak with losses at Villanova and home to Xavier in overtime.
2PM ET—Alabama at Kentucky (CBS)
We talked Kentucky already
Alabama sits 7-5 in the SEC as they are in actin tonight hosting LSU. They have gone under the total in eleven straight. Crimson Tide is coming off a 28 point home win to Tennessee on Saturday.
4:30PM ET—Villanova at Xavier (FOX)
Villanova -3
We talked Villanova already
Xavier will host Seton Hall on Wednesday with an eight game win streak after a one point win at Creighton. Prior to that was a five point win in overtime at Butler.
6PM ET—West Virginia at Kansas (ESPN)
Kansas -4
West Virginia bounced back from a loss at home to Oklahoma St with a 16 point home victory to TCU covering as a -8 betting odds favorite.
Kansas is in action tonight moving to 9-4 in the Big 12 by beating Iowa St on the road. They bounce back after a 16 point road defeat at Baylor.
8:15PM ET—North Carolina at Louisville (ESPN)
North Carolina -1
North Carolina moved to 9-5 in the ACC with an 83-66 home victory to Notre Dame on Monday. It is now a four game win streak with notable wins at NC State and home to Duke.
Louisville is 8-5 in the ACC. They have a two game win streak after a 34 point road win at Pittsburgh on Sunday. They do have recent home losses to Florida St and Syracuse.
10:15PM ET—Oregon at UCLA (ESPN)
We talked Oregon already.
UCLA is 8-5 in the PAC 12. There are four teams tied in the loss column with five losses. Bruins split their two games last week with an eight point win at Arizona and a nine point defeat at Arizona St. They have won three straight at home with notable wins to USC and Stanford.
Sunday February 18th
1PM ET—Ohio St at Michigan (CBS)
Michigan -1
Buckeyes sit atop the Big Ten at 13-1 in conference. Ohio St since their home loss to Penn St has won four straight after an 18 point home win to Iowa. They have a notable one point win at Purdue in that span.
Michigan will host Iowa on Wednesday after their 11 point win at Wisconsin on Sunday. Wolverines bounced back from a nine point loss last Tuesday at Northwestern with a bad second half.
4PM ET—Wichita St at Cincinnati (ESPN)
Cincinnati -10
We talked Cincinnati already
Wichita St sits at 9-3 in the AAC. Shockers losses in conference came at Temple and Houston with a home defeat to SMU. Wichita St comes off a 21 point home win to Connecticut and by 20 at Memphis.
8PM ET—Penn St at Purdue (BTN)
Purdue -12
Penn St is 8-6 in the Big Ten as they host Ohio St winners of three straight and five of six with a 22 point road win at Illinois.
Purdue is at Wisconsin on Thursday after back to back losses at home to Ohio St and at Boilermakers are 0-5-1 ATS in their past six games.
