I am expecting favorites to win both games as Team Chuck and Team Shaq advance to the All-Star Game championship on Sunday night.
Game 1: Team Kenny vs. Team Chuck (8:20 PM ET)
- Prediction: Team Chuck -166
- Why they’ll win: A three-time MVP, this year’s front-runner for MVP, and an alien walk into Chase Center. This is cheat-code.
Game 2: Team Shaq vs. Team Candace (9:10 PM ET)
- Prediction: Team Shaq -120
- Why they’ll win: Multiple Hall-of-Famers will face first- and second-year players, including several teenagers.
Best bet to win 2025 NBA All-Star Game tournament
Team Shaq is heavily favored to win its first game against Team Candace, with seasoned vets going toe-to-toe with rising stars.
Nick’s Free Pick: Team Chuck (+185)
Team Chuck is stacked from top to bottom, covering just about every skill set you’d want. It’s got Victor Wembanyama, the most dominating defender in the NBA and a cheat code on offense. It’s got Nikola Jokic, who has won three of the past four MVPs and can’t be stopped when he’s trying. It also has Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the MVP favorite and best player on the No. 1 team in the NBA.
Beyond the star power, this squad has size and versatility with Karl-Anthony Towns and Alperen Sengun, both of whom bring rebounding, three-point shooting, and playmaking to the table. And if shooting is what you’re looking for, Trae Young was the last player in—seriously? Add in Donovan Mitchell, who once dropped 40 in an All-Star Game, and Pascal Siakam as the perfect glue guy off the bench, and you’ve got an incredibly well-balanced squad.
Towns and Mitchell have both gone off in past All-Star Games but didn’t take home MVP honors. Mitchell’s 40-point effort in 2023 was overshadowed by Jayson Tatum, and KAT’s 50-point performance last year wasn’t enough to outshine Damian Lillard.
