UCLA vs Arizona Preview

No. 24 UCLA (8-1) faces old rivals Arizona (4-4) on Saturday afternoon in the Hall of Fame Rivalry in Phoenix in a familiar meeting between two schools who played in the Pac-12 Conference forever before UCLA headed to the Big 10 and Arizona went to the Big 12 this year. After losing to New Mexico in their second game of the season (72-64), the Bruins have reeled off 7 straight Wins, topping Boston University (71-40), Lehigh (85-45), Idaho State (84-70), Cal State Fullerton (80-47), Southern Utah (88-43), and former Pac-12 and now new Big Ten counterparts Washington (69-58) and No. 12 Oregon (73-71) on a buzzer-beating 3-pointer in Eugene. The Wildcats are just 2-3 in their last 5, losing at Duke (59-55), beating Davidson (104-74), losing to Oklahoma (82-77) and West Virginia (83-76, OT), before downing Southern Utah (102-66) in their last game. In the 2025 NCAA Tournament Futures market at DraftKings, UCLA is 60/1 to win it all with Arizona at 50/1.

UCLA Cracks the Top 25 After Win at Oregon

UCLA (6-3-0 ATS, 2-7-0 O/U) has started the new College Basketball season off as a very strong Under team with the Bruins only 2 Overs so far coming in a 84-70 win against Idaho State in a game that soared 23.5 points over the closing Total (130.5) and at against old Pac-12 and new Big Ten rivals Oregon in their last dribble. UCLA is led in scoring by F Tyler Bilodeau (13.3 ppg, 5.5 rpg), G Eric Dailey Jr. (12.3 ppg, 5.2 rpg), G Sebastian Mack (10.6 ppg), G Dylan Andrews (8.9 ppg, 3.1 apg), G Kobe Johnson (7.3 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 325 apg), G Lazar Stefanovic (6.1 ppg), C Aday Mara (5.6 ppg, 3.8 rpg), and G Trent Perry (5.4 ppg). The Bruins (+114 Moneyline) average 77.7 ppg (Tied-#143) and allow only 55.1 ppg—the No. 1 Scoring Defense in NCAA Division I Basketball.

UCLA Betting Trends

  • UCLA is 5-2 ATS in its last 7 games
  • The Bruins have been Favorites in 7 of their last 8 games
  • The December 8 game at Oregon was UCLA’s first true Road game
  • The Bruins are 8-0 SU in their last 8 games overall
  • UCLA is 8-2 SU in its last 10 games

Arizona Off to a Troubling Start So Far, But…

In the Pac-12, Arizona (3-5-0 ATS, 6-2-0 O/U) was always a powerhouse on the hardwood, but after a 4-4 start, one can only wonder if the Wildcats will get their claws back and how well they will do playing in the Big 12 with tough opponents like Kansas, Iowa State, West Virginia, BYU, and Cincinnati. Arizona is led by G Caleb Love (14.1 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 3.1 apg), H Jaden Bradley (12.0 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 3.1 apg), F Trey Townsend (11.3 ppg, 4.4 rpg), G KJ Lewis (10.3 ppg, 5.6 rpg), G Anthony Dell’Orso (10.0 ppg), F Tobe Awaka (8.4 ppg, 8. rpg), and C Motiejus Krivas (7.9 ppg, 4.5 rpg), so this team has a solid roster and the Record may be deceiving as the losses were to quality teams (Duke, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Oklahoma). The Wildcats are averaging 87.1 ppg (#10) while allowing 72.8 ppg and are strong in Rebounding (43.9 rpg, #6) and pretty good with Assists (16.0 apg, Tied-#77).

Arizona Betting Trends

  • Arizona is 2-4 SU/ATS in its last 6 games overall
  • The Wildcats went 22-14-0 ATS in the 2023-24 NCAAB season (61.1%)
  • The Over is 4-0-0 in Arizona’s last 4 games
  • The Wildcats were 16-20-0 (O/U) in the Totals markets last season
  • The winner is Arizona’s last 7 games has also covered ATS

UCLA vs Arizona Prediction

Arizona swept UCLA last season in both school’s last season in the Pac-12 Conference, winning 77-71 at Home in January (AZ -18.5) and by 23 points, 88-65 (AZ-9), in March at Westwood. In the last 10 series meetings, the Wildcats are 6-4 SU (5-5 ATS) and have won the last 3 and 6 of the last 7. The Over has hit straight times and is 3-1 the last 4, but we can throw all of those numbers out the window because these two programs are starting all over again in new conferences and this (meaningless) game is at a Neutral Site, but the location should favor Arizona.

The Wildcats (-137 Moneyline) definitely need a win here more than UCLA does, but with the top Scoring Defense in the nation it won’t be easy. This is a new breed Bruins team, but the series Trends, Site , desperation and rosters actually seem to favor the Wildcats. This UCLA vs Arizona NCAAB pick will look for Aricona to bounce back and win a close one and even though these two are in different conference now, this will be a great and competitive game to watch, even if the Hall of Fame Rivalry is more pomp and circumstance than important to either school.

Kevin’s Pick: Arizona Moneyline -137
