On Sunday 12/01 the Seattle Seahawks will take on the N.Y. Jets at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.  The forecast for Sunday is a temp of 36.8 °F with 11.6 mph wind and 1 % chance of rain.  It’s the NFC West vs AFC East.  The NFC West is the #4 ranked conference in the NFL with a 50% winning percentage while the AFC East is the #6 ranked conference with a 45.9% winning percentage.  The 6-5 Seahawks are ranked #1 in the NFC West and the 3-8 Jets are ranked #3 in the AFC East.  Last week the Seahawks beat the Cardinals 16 to 6 allowing the Cardinals only 298 yards of total offense.  Last week Aaron Rodgers and the Jets had a win, drinking mushroom tea and throwing zero interceptions on their BYE Week.

The Seahawks will go with Geno Smith who has a record of 6-5 as starting quarterback this season.  Geno Smith is the #2 ranked QB this week and has completed 280 passes on 405 attempts.  He has averaged 275.9 yards per game with a completion percentage of 69.1% with 12 TD’s and 12 INT’s. His QBR is 6.8% below the league average this season.  The Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III is the # 9 ranked RB this week.  He is averaging 54.8 yards per game with 7 TD’s and 0 fumbles. His yards per attempt are sitting at 3.8 and has advanced rushing success rate of 44.2% which is 11.9% less than the league average for all running backs.  Wide receiver 1 for the Seahawks is DK Metcalf.  Metcalf is ranked #37 for WR\TE’s this week.  He averages 5.1 receptions per game with a 15.2 yards per catch average to go along with 3 TD’s. When it comes to the advanced receiving stats, he has a catch success rate of 61.3% which is 4.1% below league average and a receiving success rate of 49.3% which is 4.5% less than the league average for wide receivers in this statistical category.  Seattle’s success has gone the way of Geno Smith this season.  Geno is number one in the NFL passing the ball, so we know he is gonna air it out.  If he doesn’t add to his 12 interceptions in this game, the seahawks will be just fine.

His QBR is 12.3% below the league average.   The Jets aging quarterback is 7 older than the Seahawks Geno Smith and is 13.1 years older than the NFL average.  The Jets running back Breece Hall is the # 11 ranked RB this week and he is averaging 57.5 yards per game with 4 TD’s and 4 fumbles. His yards per attempt right around 4.2 and he has an advanced rushing success rate of 44.7% which is 10.9% less than the league average for this statistic.  For the Jets at wide receiver 1 is Davante Adams who is ranked #40 for all WR\TE’s this week in the NFL.  He averages 5.5 catches per game and 11.1 yards per reception to go with 2 TD’s. The advanced receiving stats show he has a catch success rate of 60.3% which is 5.7% below league average combined with a receiving success rate of 43.8% which is 15.2% less than the wide receiver league averages.  Not sure if you noticed but there were a lot of under league average stats in this paragraph.  The Jets need to have a better ground game.  They are 30th in all of the NFL.  If they can do this, have a running game at all, they can have a chance at winning this game.

Defense is golden today.  Both teams are 6% above league average when it comes to defensive play.  Geno will throw interceptions, Geno will get sacked, no one will convert a third down and both will try to establish a ground game in cold weather.  This game is going under folks.  Each of Seattle’s last 5 games have gone UNDER the total and there is no change in sight.  Plus, the Jets are just bad.
