Nevada vs UNLV Preview
No. 24 UNLV (9-2, 5-1 in MWC) hosts upstate rivals Nevada (3-9, 0-6 in MWC) at the home of the Las Vegas Raiders—Allegiant Stadium—on Saturday night in the the Battle for Nevada where the winning school takes the Fremont Cannon and gets to paint it in the team’s colors. The Rebels have won the last 2 in the series and with the 17.5-Point Spread are likely to keep this trophy in Sin City. Nevada leads the Battle for Nevada series, 28-20. Theoretically, Nevada is still in the College Football Playoff picture, but realistically it is not and hasn’t been since losing to Boise State. The Wolf Pack are winless in Mountain West Conference play this season and this will be their last game of the Regular Season. Like Michigan with Ohio State earlier in the day, the only good thing for Nevada this season would be to beat UNLV in this spot. For now, the Fremont Cannon stays secure at the Fertitta Football Complex and is scarlet red and gray.
Nevada in Last Chance to Get First MWC Victory
Nevada (6-5-1 ATS, 6-6-0 O/U) has beaten three out of conference teams (TROY, EW, OREGON ST), but has laid an egg in MWC play, losing 5 in a row although the Wolf Pack hung close with Fresno State, Boise, and Air Force last weekend. Nevada (+599 Moneyline) may look like it has no chance here, but this team has nothing to lose and can pull off the upset over UNLV (-986 Moneyline) if everything goes right.
Nevada Betting Trends
- Nevada is 1-3-1 ATS in its last 5 games overall
- The Wolf Pack are 3-1 ATS in the last 4 in this rivalry
- Nevada’s last MWC win came Oct. 28, 2023 vs New Mexico
- The Wolf Pack have lost 10 straight in MWC play
- Nevada has scored 21 points or less in its last 5 games
UNLV Looks to Keep Fremont Cannon Scarlet Red
UNLV (6-5-0 ATS, 5-6-0 O/U) will be going to a decent Bowl game in December, but not the CFP as the ranked Rebels had hoped for earlier this season. The loss to Syracuse was a speed bump, but the loss to Boise State blew out the flame on the Rebels candle, so all that is left now is to try and beat their rivals here in the Regular Season finale and then see what Bowl game they are in. Head Coach Barry Odom, QB Hajj-Malik Williams, and WR Ricky White III have the best football team in Las Vegas and in Allegiant Stadium, as the NFL’s Raiders are kind of stinky and always find a way to beat themselves. The Rebels finally beat San José State in Week 13, and have become a very prolific and entertaining FBS team to watch.
UNLV Betting Trends:
- UNLV is 5-1 SU in its last 6 games overall
- The Over is 4-1 ATS in the Rebels last 5 Home games
- UNLV is 1-5 ATS in its last 6 overall
- Rebels have been Favorites in every game this season but 2 (KS, BOISE)
- UNLV is 0-2 ATS the last 2 vs Nevada at Home
Nevada vs UNLV Pick and Prediction
This Nevada vs UNLV free pick and prediction will look to the Totals market with the Sides line too high to offer backing the Rebels and Nevada so unpredictable. Like I said, Nevada could somehow win this one, but they will need UNLV to be off—a rare thing these last 2 seasons—and to win the TO and Field Position battles. With the Wolf Pack peeking out at 21 points of late and the Rebels (38.7 ppg, #8 in Scoring Offense) scoring at ease, this looks like a 37-21 or 40-23 type game indoors on a fast surface, so the Over seems the logical approach in the Battle for Nevada.
