Oilers vs. Canadiens Game Overview

Alright, let’s crush the books today in this hockey game. Edmonton is taking on Montreal. The Oilers have won three of their last four, while Montreal has taken two of their last three. Both teams are playing some decent hockey, so we’re in for a good game here.

What did we see last season between these two teams? Well, the Oilers got the win, but they needed overtime to do so in both meetings. Head-to-head last season, we also saw low-scoring games—unders were the trend. The total is set at 6.5 here, which I think is a bit too high for these teams.

Why the Under is the Play

We’re likely to see Skinner in goal for the Oilers and Montembeault starting for Montreal. If you’ve been betting Edmonton overs this season, yikes—you’ve probably lost quite a bit. Betting the Oilers under this season? You’re up over four units. Since Noblock took over as coach, the Oilers have been playing a more defensive style, and I think that trend continues here.

I like the under 6.5 in this one—it feels like the only way to play it on Monday. I don’t want to lay -275 on the Oilers. If you’re looking for more action, you might grab the puck line with Montreal. This feels like a close game, so maybe even sprinkle a bit on a 60-minute draw. We might see McDavid pop the overtime winner, but either way, I see this one staying under. A 3-2 score seems likely—someone wins this game here on Monday.
