Islanders vs. Canucks Game Analysis
Alright, let’s dive into the action here between the Islanders and Canucks. I think Varlamov gets the start for the Islanders in this one, and it should be Kevin Lankinen starting for the Canucks. You look at the Canucks—they’re starting to turn their slow season start around a bit, going 4-1 in their last five games. They’re averaging about 3.6 goals per game and giving up 2.6 goals per game.
Now, let’s check in on the Islanders. They’ve been decent on the road, sitting at 4-3-2 this season, picking up 10 points. They’re scoring 2.6 goals per game while giving up 2.8. They lost their last game to the Oilers in overtime, so they’re looking for a bounce-back here. And you know what? The Islanders have had a couple of close losses lately, each by less than one goal. When they’ve lost two straight games by less than a goal, they’re 5-0 dating back to 2023. So, I’m leaning toward the Islanders here.
Over/Under Prediction
But there’s only one way I’m going on this game—I’m taking the over. We’ve seen plenty of goals from this Canucks team. Look at what the Canucks do at home; they’re giving up 4.3 goals per game. And as I mentioned, the Islanders have started to find the back of the net too, averaging 3.2 goals per game over their last five. I think the Islanders can put up three or four goals here, and the Canucks can add a few of their own. With the total set at six, that feels too low. Take the over 6 or 6.5 – I think we easily reach seven or eight goals here in this one on Thursday night.
A Lean Toward the Islanders Upset
I’m leaning toward the Islanders to upset the Canucks. I’ve seen a lot of Canucks struggles this season, so the over is the play here. Maybe consider a two-team parlay. I think the Islanders might get the job done here in Vancouver.
